At first glance you could be forgiven for thinking this is just another french derivative. If Noddy was French then this would have been his car! It won't win any style awards but then again, how much time do you spend looking at the outside of your car whilst driving? It's only when you take a closer look that you realise Peugeot have pulled out quite a few stops to bring us this baby of the family. Go for one of the limited editions and you really won't get that much extra. It's when you sit behind the wheel that you realise this is not just another car-based mini van. The driving position is commanding and long journeys are relatively comfortable. You have to remember that it has the same 1400cc engine as the 206 and that means it's no boy racer's car. Thanks to the enormous interior it will easily take a family of four with dogs and luggage in comfort but don't expect good performance with a full load. Perhaps the bigger engined option is for you if you demand more power. It has a very economical engine which performs well around town and is ideal as a cheaper option to the Frontera or Land Rover favoured by the school run brigade! Handling is good with power steering as standard. The base models don't come with all that many gadgets but there are enough to provide good value for money. The power window switches are located alongside the heater controls in the middle of the dash, which can become irritating if you use them regularly. The interior door handles are quite stiff and not very user friendly, which is unusual considering these vehicles are designed with the private hire market in mind. There is plenty of interior storage space both front and back and the boot will handle a weeks shopping with ease. Look for limited edition QUICKSILVER models, which come with extra trim, colour-coded body strips and a sliding cover for the luggage compartment. Ideal for hiding expensive items from prying eyes.
