After getting free insurance from Peugeot for a year with our new 206 we decided to renew with Peugeot Insurance after the first year was up. Their quote was the cheapest (although Tesco came close) and we hadn't had any problems with them in the past 12 months. Their customer service was poor, but then we rarely needed to contact them.
Once renewed, they had to send us three policy documents before they got the details right, but ... ...to sort out. The real problems came when I had an accident 6 months into our second year. With no witnesses (if you ever witness a car accident - please stop!) it was my word against his. Still, if anyone is going to help me out, it would be my insurance company, right? Wrong!

Once renewed, they had to send us three policy documents before they got the details right, but in all honesty that wasn't too much of a hassle to sort out. The real problems came when I had an accident 6 months into our second year. With no witnesses (if you ever witness a car accident - please stop!) it was my word against his. Still, if anyone is going to help me out, it would be my insurance company, right? Wrong!
I reported the accident to the usual jobsworth - very pleasant, but he managed to enter the details of another driver on the policy instead of mine, even though she was female (trust me, I don't sound female!). They then refused to correct the mistake unless she wrote to them (data protection issues?), and proceeded to send all the documentation to her address, and called on her home number. They would ring and leave a message on her answer phone, she would tell me when she got home from work, I would have to wait until the next day to call them back, and so the frustrating cycle repeated.
Meanwhile, the other guy involved in the accident had his wife harassing both myself and Peugeot on a regular basis, becoming steadily more irate, and with more and more sob stories. Peugeot informed me that they only had third party insurance which would explain their persistence. Her constant shouting paid off, and Peugeot caved in and agreed to have her car inspected by the local garage whilst they were waiting for my written statement of the accident.
After two more messages from the woman left on my voicemail I contacted Peugeot to ask for advice. The woman on the phone asked for a brief description of the accident again which I gave, and suggested they would write to me to let me know what was happening. A week later I called to find that the other persons car was being repaired and liability for the accident rested with me. I asked how they arrived at the decision, and was told the woman I spoke to a week ago had decided, based on our telephone conversation, and not upon my written statement. OK, but how did she make the decision I asked? The rep on the phone proceeded to read out a description of the accident written by the woman, a description that was totally false and inaccurate. I asked for a copy of the records, which Peugeot will send you, but only if you pay for it, and no amount of shouting at supervisors will change this!
To me, it looks as though Peugeot have simply taken the easy option and laid blame with me. That way they stop being harassed by the guy's wife, and I have to cough up for the damage. A decision was made based on incorrect information, without even waiting for the written statement and diagrams THEY asked me to supply. I have a complaint lodged with Peugeot regarding their conduct, but if they treat this with the their usual level of efficiency then I don't expect to get a resolution any time soon.
Overall the lower cost of Peugeot Insurance was attractive, but if you're looking to save money with them, be prepared for a struggle should you be unfortunate enough to have an accident. From my experience, phone calls not returned, long periods on hold, inconsistent information and worrying lack of security (if you know the name of any driver on the policy you have instant access) are quite normal.
Advantages: free Disadvantages: be careful not to lose no claims from previous years
I was absolutely thrilled when I received my 2 years free insurance with with purchase of my new Peugeot 106. However, now the time has come for me to buy my own insurance, the flaws in the system have begun to show.
The main problem (and this is something everyone should be aware of if taking free insurance) is that if you have a no claims bonus earned BEFORE taking free insurance, you may lose those years if you are not careful. I know that some ... ...case of Peugeot, they didn't have a hand over between my old company and themselves. This means, at the end of your free insurance, you may find it very difficult to prove the number of no claims years you have in reality.
The second problem is that I have found Peugeot to be less than helpful and not particularly efficient or reliable. When I rang to explain the problems I was having, the person I spoke to said it wasn't their problem. Further, ...

Advantages: Brilliant concept car! Disadvantages: Left hand drive windscreen wipers restrictin view
I have covered about 22000 miles in my Peugeot and I luv it! I have a 2litre TDI with black leather interior.
Inside is brilliant, leather is a high quality hide and very easy to keep clean.I have a job which entails driving around waste sites so it does get a bashing!
The brilliant design ensures that you have drink holders and plenty of neat hideaways for cameras etc.
I use it in the five passenger mode and the boot is cavernous with a net which ... ...i never seem to get back ache.
The only crititism is the awful windscreen wipers which are designed for left hand drive leaving a large blind spot on the right hand side of the windscreen. A shame as overall the car is excellent . I complained to Peugeot regarding the windscreen wipers and was given a curt reply! They fully comply with all european standards etc,
But the French should look after us English buyers! The glass roof is lovely and keeps ...

Advantages: Cost, Service, Easy to Use! Disadvantages: Havn't had any so far, ill keep praying
I took out elephant insurance with my 1993 renault 5, it was the cheapest i could find on the internet £322. I today bought a Peugeot 206cc, checked insurance prices at other companies and every one was over £1000. Elephant was only £600.
What made it better was i could change my existing policy and add the new car at a extra cost of £188. Superb i thought.
Then i realised that i would have to pay the money today as i was collecting the car, the girl seeing that i would struggle asked when i could pay the extra, i said when i get paid 20 days later and they obliged. Upgraded my policy to the existing car and let me pay for it 1 month later? Absolutely exceptional. You dont get many companies like this, and im happy to say im extremely pleased with them.
+ Please note i have never had to make a claim therefor i cant ...

Advantages: They look for the best insurance Disadvantages: Obstructive, slow, inaccurate, rude and poor service
In the summer of 2000 I got a new car, a Peugeot 306. Less than a month before I had renewed my insurance through Insurance Express - no hassles so far. When I came to amend the insurance to the new car me and my partner had no end of trouble getting it sorted out!
Here's what happened:
1) They provided us with a quote higher than the previous D reg car which was a turbo!
2) We sent documents of ownership to them (twice) and they lost them
3) They said they were sorting out our insurance but each time we called they didn't know what was going on. Different person each time.
4) They were rude and obstructive
5) I ended up driving out to collect a cover note which turned out to be incorrect anyway
6) It took them weeks to send us the final insurance document (and they also included someone else's as well!!!)
7) They quibbled ...
Advantages: cheap, good discounts, easy to sign up Disadvantages: well its insurance, nobody likes it
I was looking through all the insurance companies as a first time driver for 2 months before I passed my test so I got a good range of quotes, about 25.
Direct Line was the cheapest quote at around £1300 for a year or £109 a month (remember, ive just passed and im 18). I was getting quotes for up to £4k and the next lowest was £1500. It would have been cheaper to go as a named driver with my dad but he wouldnt do that and girls get it a lot cheaper as well.
I was insuring an old peugeot 106 1.1L and got third party fire and theft.
I joined over the phone and recieved a 10% discount as my dad is with them also. I found them very helpful and easy to communicate with over the phone, they didnt try to sell me loads of other products as some companies do but I asked about breakdown cover and it was an extra £6 a month.
I ...
