This is a review about a specialized shampoo I would recommend for people itchy and irritated scalp!
A few years ago I started having a few problems with my hair and at the time I never knew about this brand before until I went to my hairdressers and discussed my concerns with him.
It is in a way very surprising how hair is so sensitive to our life and how the ups and downs of life show on it, sometimes our hair can go thin and lifeless or our scalp goes very sensitive! I sometimes experience soreness and get an odd spot now and again, also sometimes I feel like scratching and that is not very nice especially if you get an itch in public!
I browsed over the internet to find more information about this brand and I was reassured they were serious people and knew their job well, considering I was willing to try them to help with my thinning in the first place. There are so many cowboys out there selling lotions and potions to enrich nothing but their own pockets!
HOW TO USE THIS *********** You wet your
hair put a 10p amount (or more especially if you have long hair) on your hand, this shampoo is clear in colour, then lather on your hair and massage your scalp gently for a minute or so (without rubbing hard!) rinse well and repeat if necessary, although have to confess I feel one use is definitely enough.
The product lathers really quickly and is very pleasant to use, the smell is nice, nothing too overwhelming, a nice chemical smell which you can't really compare to anything but which is ok. The smell is the same as their body building shampoo in fact. This smell does not stay on your hair for a long time anyhow so no worries there if for example you might not be too keen on it in the first place. At the end your scalp feels clean refreshed and soothed and I do not get any itchy sensations. I suppose this works for general soreness but if you do have a severe issue it is best to see a GP and get referred to a dermatologist who can advise you on the best products to use and on how to takle the problem at its own roots.
This product lasts for a long time so one bottle could last you for a good 2/3 months according to the times you wash your hair.
PACKAGING ********** This product looks very funky, it comes in a carton box white and yellow, all their products are colour coded for the type of hair they care for. This box can be recycled. The bottle is white and has a cilinder shape with yellow writings on it which include the ingredients and directions of use. The bottle is an easy squeeze so that you don't have to battle under the shower to get some product out of it! I do like how it is presented although I suppose they could do without the outer carton box, which certainly can be recycled but does not help our environment.
WHO IS PHILIP KINGSLEY? *********** The website claims they have 45 years of trichological experience and they do have one clinic in NY and one in London. They say that when you go and have a consultation with them, they adopt a holistic approach to all problems, investigating general health, family history, nutrition, lifestyle and other relevant factors which are affecting your hair. They even do blood tests and the treatments are individually prescribed and can vary from person to person. Sometimes they might even liaise with your doctor or specialist to solve your problems. As you can see looks like any problems seems to be addressed with the caution and detail it deserves.

75 ml for £4.95 250ml for £12.00 1000ml (1 litre) for £32.00 - More for professional use as that is a huge bottle!
I know it is rather expensive compared to other products but you honestly do not need that much, the small bottle is so practical (and so cute) especially when you go on holiday and don't want to carry around annoying weights with you, also it could prove positive as you could look at it as a trial size to see if this could be the right product for you and don't need to spend lots of money on a big bottle to start with.
You can buy this product or any of the PhilipKingsley items online from their website www.philipkingsley.com and can definitely find a better bargain online with other cheap suppliers or on ebay. Apart from that, this product is highly specialized so a bit hard to find honestly, some hairdressers do sell it but I have not seen this in Debenhams or House of Fraser for example.
Their website is done very well and their range include other products which do target other problematic areas like itchy/ flacky scalp for example, so it might be worth having a look if you might be concerned about something or simply want a good product.
MY OPINION *********** I totally recommend this as it does really good results, which are definitely visible. To me the brand itself is a reassurance as they do treat all sorts of scalp and hair related problems like people suffering of hair loss for example. It is still a cosmetic product but although some cheap brands put all sorts of ingredients just to give you a short lasting results you know that Philip Kingsley is actually designed for people who might have problems and are really worried to use anything too harsh and not professional that than damage even further.
From a consumer point of view I can see it is pricey, but for me my hair is very precious and I would not put a price on it.

I had used their treatment for damaged hair before but didn't see any results. Might give them another chance and try a small bottle of this product as it sounds good.
