This is a review for the 'AA RoadAtlas 2009'
INTRO
Well it's that time of year for me where I think of going on my summer holiday This year I'm planning to take my car to France and go camping with friends, so a good map of France is a must.
I looked on Ebay for maps on France and came across 1500 results for French maps, after searching page after page I came across two different maps that I've used before one was the Michelin foldout map (very good) and the other was the 'AA RoadAtlas France'.
As I wanted as much detail as I could get the 108 page 'AA Big RoadAtlas France 2009' was at the top of my list. I managed to find the 'AA RoadAtlas France 2009' map brand new on Ebay for £6.25p including the postage (retail £9.99).
AA ROADATLAS FRANCE 2009.
The 108 page 'AA RoadAtlas France 2009' has everything I ...
Advantages: Speed camera warnings, accident blackspot warning, gets you there Disadvantages: annoying audible in average speed camera area
I bought a road angel navigator 6000 a little over a year ago now, i got it second hand for £50 as it had no sd card that contain the maps included, i was quite happy as my friend had one of these with the sd card so i figured i could just make a copy of his card, insert it and away i go. This is what i did and hey presto off we go no problem at all.
To be honest i don't actually find the 6000 to bad although i notice a few people have come up with some horror stories regards the software not giving them the correct information.
Its a simple basic machine that does what it says it does. I have used it on several occassions when travelling round glasgow, edinburgh and birmingham and find it to be of satisfactory use. Ok so there are a few bad points to it but you almost come to expect this with everything in this day and age ...
Advantages: Tough, simple to use and lots of features. Disadvantages: Recharging takes a while. Sluggish finding intial GPS on start up.
A very efficient sat nav. Easy to master.
Down sides, slowish to boot up and mine takes what seems to be a long time to charge.
Easy to see screen and effecient response from touch screen applications.
A nice piece of kit and good value.
It has the option of being able to be used solely as a safety camera detector, although you need to ensure the monthly updates are always installed, even then they are not always recorded. It also gives the option of recording any camera locations in the memory to upload to Road Angel later and get added to the database for other users.
It has various alerts that can be switched on and off at will. One of the most useful is the warning that you have exceeded a set speed. Useful to keep you to a set speed limit and if you come across any cameras that have not been entered in the database yet! ...
