Having lived in an age when TV was beamed into my home on a set with glowing valves, horizontal hold and with only two stations and 2 colours (black and white!), I find the whole new world of TV fun and begiling picures.

I can remeber as a small child the hours we would spend fiddling with knobs and buttons to get a stable picture on the family TV. It used to sit in the corner of the room and it's valves would glow and have to warm up before it beamed in a grainy back and white picture.

With two channels to chose for there was no need for remote control!!! Mind you I was forever up and down playing with the picture controls to stop it rolling and swaying on the screen.

As things moved on we moved on to the first colour TV's with colors far removed from how they started in the studio, bright red faces and garish clothes.

I can recall with pain the last TV we installed before this one.

We spent hours trying to set it and trying to get the Video to work with it. Divorce rates must have soared in households that took delivery of new TV's. Children must have gone unfed as parents grappled with the TV in a frenzy to get a picture that was watchable on all 4 channells. Yes, by then we did have 4 channels.

So it was with real trepidation that we moved onto this Philips LCD TV. We had choosen it as our old set had literally given up after years of hard service. We looked at many of these 'new fangeled' LCDs and were treated by some salepersons as complete idiots as we asked questions about how to set up these type of TV's. Some were just not intrested in us, I thnk as I was in my gardening clothes (don't ask) they just thpough I was a 'tramp'.

Then we were cosseted by a great salesman in House of Fraser Guildford. He asked what I wanted, took interest in the fact we did not want a BIG LCD as we live in a TINY 1819 flint cottage and just wanted to have an LCD that would fit into our life.

Having weighted up all the options I drew the plastic and made the purchase. Kind salesmen even said if we got stuck to ring hime persoally if we had problems. I left the store thinking 'he will be a busy boy when I get home and on the phone'

So we unpacked this sleek, trim TV with fears for each others saftey and sanity. I did the 'reading' and my other half did the 'doing'.

Well it was so easy to set up that the three minutes it took must surley be a record for any installation of a new TV. The DVD and Skyplus both installed without a fight, cross word or stamping of feet.

No need to call the man at the store!!

The picture is the best we have ever experiancd in this house. Living in a valley we have been used to a cruddy picture.

This picture is sharp, bright and so crystal clear I wonder how much better it will be when I HD on this HD ready set.
No wonder actors are worried about looking flawed on HD, as you can already see so many 'blips' on their skins already. Lordy, I will go get shares in polyfilla because they are going to need it......

The screen beams a great picture, NO dead pixels, No dead anything, this is pictures with WOW factor!

Watching wildlife is stunning, and all programmes now seem to have that extra enjoyment factor.

The remote is easy to use and the way the set goes to the right setting for each programm means I do not suffer from those short fat little peopel we saw on cheaper screens that you had to adjust manaually! Noone of that with Philips as the picture changes to the right format as soon as needed.

The sound is great and far better than I have heard before.

I can set the picture to any colout 'warmth' I want, but so far I have found the factory settings to be just fine.

This is TV as it should be. No lights refecting on the screen due to those clever people at Phiplis I can leave the light on to read or work and the TV picture does not refect this back as did my old set.

The set is modern and sleek to look at. Somehow as it is so discreete it does not look out of place in our old cottage

I am smug about owning such a great TV. I would recommend this TV to anyone, easy set up, easy on the eye, easy to be proud of!!

Now all we need are great programms to watch!!!
