We just installed this shiny new 23" widescreen Philips LCD TV in our office to replace the Sony 20" CRT 4:3 television we've been using for the past 5 years.

It's turned out to be a big disappointment. With a black input the screen is a patchy dark blue despite the 700:1 contrast ratio the manufacturer claims. While there is the usual shift in colorimetry as the viewing angle changes, the picture is twice as bright when seen from 10º above horizontal and extremely dim when seen from more than 40º off-axis. There also is a lot of digital processing going on which puts nasty artefacts around crisp edges such as captions.
The "incredible surround sound for enhanced audio enjoyment" sounds like it comes out of a drainpipe about 6 feet behind the set, though it's perhaps a little unfair to be too critical about the sound quality: getting a good result from such a thin box is almost impossible, external speakers will improve the sound from any LCD TV.

Apart from that it's a great TV, analogue and digital tuners, two HDMI inputs, lots of options for altering the picture and sound (none of which overcome the inherent problems), 1000 page hypertext and it looks quite smart when it's off (you can tell I'm struggling to find good things to say!).

Note that, in common with most televisions of this size that boast an "HD Ready" label, it isn't a High Definition TV. The label simply means that there is an HDMI input and some circuitry to down-convert from the 1920*1080 HD format to whatever the set actually has... in this case 1366 by 768 pixels, about half way between Standard Definition (720*576) and true HD.

We put the old Sony back, LCD's still have a way to go before they're better than the old technology to judge by this effort.
