Where should i start, well i purchased this television about a week ago and so far i am very pleased with my purchase.

The television is a philips so thats one good thing, as philips are known for excellent picture technologies and actuall picture displays, this television for a start uses the technology "Crystal Clear III" which is a technology that is a combination of three diffrent features, Dynamic Contrast, 2D Comb Filter and SCAVEM...

Dynamic Contrast ensures that your TV picture always has the optimum contrast by analysing the picture 25 times a second and instantly optimising the contrast in those parts of the picture where it is necessary.
2D Comb Filter removes cross colour distortion, e.g. When a TV presenter wears a striped or checked jacket, resulting in a sharper and purer colour display.
SCAVEM stands for Scan Velocity Electronic Modulation and gives a
dramatic improvement in picture quality.

The sound is excellent also, producing virtual dolby surround, eliminating the need for seperate surround sound but of course buying seperates is always the better option but it is all down to desired efect.

The inputs are also very well laid out, having two scarts, scart one is RGB and CVBS in/out (Composite Video), the second scart is s-video in and CVBS in/out (Composite Video) And also on the back of the television their is two stereo RCA outputs for connecting the television to an external audio source like an amplifier. Also has three RCA Inputs on the side, Composite, two stereo rca inputs and a headphone socket which are found very useful for connecting camcorders and consoles etc.

The controls for the television like program and volume controls are based on the top front of the television set.

The remote is very well laid out, in the middle of the remote being volume controls and one side and the program controls on the other side and a mute button in between and an audio button that lets you select between what audio track you wish to listen to which are avaliable being Mono, Stereo and Doilby Virtual Surround and theirs also a picture button that lets you switch through numerous diffrent pictures starting from Widescreen, 4:3, Zoom 4:3, Zoom 16:9, Subtitle zoom and super wide, and at the bottom their is a button that lets you switch through the av channels, EXT1, EXT2 and AV and theirs also a menu button nwhich lets you change the settings like picture, sound and the installation settings.

The best settings to have for picture in my mind is to have the Brightness at 55, Colour at 40, Contrast at 50, Sharpness at 5 and Colour Temp is best left at normal, the sound features i leave at default, and as for Features i leave rotation at default and the same with contrast+ and NR.

The size is just right aswell, the actuall television being 80cm (31 1/2") wide and the actuall screen size measured diagonally being 67 cm (26 1/2") and the depth of the television being 51 cm (20")

The cabinet which comes with the television is also very stylish and matches the tv so well it looks like they are virtually built into eachother, the legs being built of very tough wood and two glass shelves the bottom glass shelve has an "PHILIPS" logo on the front end of the glass. measured 73 cm in width and about 42 cm in depth and the glass shelves being half a cm in thickness which shows how tough it is, which holds a dvd player and playstation2 just nicely on one of the two shelves.

Miscellaneously, the power button is at the front on the left side along with a red light to notify you that the power is switched on.

Overall this television has to seriously be one of the best for its very cheap price, coming at just under £300, ebuyer being the cheapest stockist id reccomend this to anybody looking for a new widescreen.
