My last television served me for years before I gave into temptation and forked out £399.99 for the Philips 32PFL5403D to enable me to move into the 21st century and experience the true viewing purity of HD performance. I'm not a big watcher of television and don't have acres of space so the larger more expensive models were easy to ignore and I honestly think I have unearthed a gem of a television that didn't break the bank.
The set up and installation was a piece of cake as the flat screen is really easy to put into place as it isn't that heavy and is easily portable with most of the weight in the base and lower part of the unit to give it balance when placed on any flat surface. I opted to buy a specialist television stand for a further £69.99 as the high-tec look really didn'y fit in with the oak stand my old television was perched on. I have to say that it really does give off an air of quality and looks like a real high end television set, something I had expected from such a well known manufacturer.
After hooking up my DVD and Sky box to the SCART and aerial sockets the television on first use automatically detects both digital and terrestrial channels and saves them without the need to go through any convaluted procedures. The instruction manual is pretty clear on what you have to do and is brief as the television seems to have a life of its own.
The picture quality and level of details is stunning, with plenty of depth and clarity I have only ever seen before on a big IMAX screen. The colours are sharp and the booklet tells me this this is due to the screen the television having pixel plus HD that supports 28.9 billion shades and colours. Watching television and DVDs has never been better and I find it less stressful on my eyes due to the sharp images. The range of volume available from the two 15w integrated speakers that can drown out even the heaviest traffic noise outside my flat. Even on the highest volume settings the quality of the sound is not compromised at all and this is excellent.
A really good purchase that has taken away the strain on my eyes, protected my wallet and looks perfect. The 32 inch screen is just right in terms of size but the the only problem is that my TV consumption time is steadily increasing!
