Summary in English of incident as reported to Philips customer service on 27.08.2006:

I bought TV 32PW8651 set serial number HJ120620539301 for 499 EUR on 08.08.2006 20:53 at Kodin1, Oulu. After having used the TV for approx. 10 days i) the image started to flicker very noticiably and ii) while the TV was reproducing a TV channel, the TV turned off and on again by itself.

I am very dissapointed with this incident and the article in question and hereby would request an official communication from Philips customer service. I tried to return the article to the place it was recommended to me and I purchased it from (Kodin1, Oulu) but it was not possible. The TV is at a repair service at the moment.

Summary in English of Philips customer service reponse as received on 31.08.2006:

Thank you for contacting Philips Customer Service.
We are deeply sorry to hear about the problems you have had with Philips television.

Unfortunately as a manufacturer we are biased to interfere with the agreement that the retailer has done with the customer. Therefore Philips can't change the TV unless it has been diagnosed unrepairable. However in many cases retailer has exchanged the faulty television for the customer if fault has occured within 2 weeks (14 days) from the date of purchase. This however is not compulsory for the retailer but more
as a sign of a good will.

I hope this is of help in drawing your own conclussions about Philips 32PW8651/12, as sold at Kodin-1 (Anttila Oy), Oulu - Finland.

Sounds like a pretty awful TV then. Expect more for your money really in this day and age where technology is constantly improving.
