Advantages Outstanding picture & build quality with stunning looks packed full of features and is 3D ready

Disadvantages None

This TV is outstanding and has a very good appearance and build quality and I first have to point out that the sound from this TV is excellent with a total output of 30 watts rms. This model has 3 sided ambilight both sides and at the top of the TV and as this TV has LED back lighting the blacks and the whites are as close to plasma technology as you can have at the time of writing this review. The TV has 10,000.000 contrast ratio and a 0.5 response time which is great for fast moving content such as sports and with this 0.5 responce time it competes very well with plasma technology.

Philips 46PFL9705
The TV does not seem to suffer from motion blur and is very content is very smooth and responsive. The other thing I like about this TV is the number of inputs as it is packed with every input you could ever need WITH 4 HDMI inputs, An SD Card slot, 2 scart sockets, Ethernet port and 2 USB inputs, Philips have also put the most popular inputs at the bottom of the set so if you have this wall mounted fairly close to a wall you can be confident that your cables wont be pressed on the wall from the back of the unit.

The other thing I like about the Philips Ambilight range is the stunning looks this model has a brushed aluminium look and you can even use the ambilight as a decorative wall feature when the TV is switched off with a feature called lounge mode you just press the ambilight button on the TV and you get a nice radiant light shining around the TV.

The other new thing Philips have included is a feature called adaptive ambilight previously if you used the ambilight against a dark background you would not get the same effect as using it on a light background but with this new feature you can just gop into the settings on the TV and select the nearest wall colour to your wall whether it be purple or cream then the TV adjusts the ambilight to best match your wall colour.

This model even has built in WIFI which enables you to connect the TV to your home network and for just one example enables you to play music from your PC or Laptop without the need for having to copy it to a USB then putting it into the TV it is also great for slideshows as any photo albums can easily be accessed from your PC or Laptop and be directly sent to the TV screen without having to mess around
.
This model also has “net TV” at the moment you can view you tube videos and cartoon network but this shows that this TV seems to cater for the future of TV entertainment with this feature.

The TV is full 1080p HD ready and is also 3d ready although I didn’t get 3D Glasses with the set you can buy these at a later date when there is more 3D content on the market again the TV caters for the future as well as the present needs of a TV viewer. There is an input at the back of the TV labled 3D where you plug in the 3D adaptor receiver to link up to your 3D glasses this KIT can be purchased from Philips but as 3D content has just started to revolve I decided to wait until there is more 3D Material which by that time prices may drop.
