Advantages: Versatile: acts as MP3 player with good speakers & alarm clock & portable speaker set Disadvantages: Still quite pricey and transferring of music to device is slow
...I have owned this for over a year now - to avoid confusion:
PSS110 : 256MB memory
=> PSS120: 512MB memory
PSS231: 1 GB (NB - unlike the other two above - this model does not have FM radio)
This review is for the PSS120 which 512MB memory and does have the FM radio. To make this clear, this has the same features as the PSS110 - it just has double the space.
It is a versatile device: the 512MB lets me store about 10 full CDs - encoded as MP3s, it had an FM radio which is not at all bad as long as you have the arial plugged in (supplied), it can act as external speakers via its Line IN so can act as computer speakers if required, it also has a line out which I use to plug in headphones or connect it up to my Hi-Fi and play it through my big speakers. great!!
CONNECTIVITY
There is Power input (required to charge the device...

Advantages: Superb Sound and Cheap Disadvantages: Memory not too good
...and you can see the speakers pulsating in and out!
Downfall of the ShoqBox PSS120 is the memory factor as it doesn't hold many tracks. There is a 1gb version but it doesn't offer a radio. Price wise i picked mine up for £15 in Howells of Cardiff part of House of Frasier group. Such a good price, i bought 4 =). Just to clear up the other reviews that say you have to use musicmatch, you don't with "Shoqbox Buddy".
phillips support online offers firmware downloads which can be updated using the USB cable....

Advantages: Good idea, good appearance, excellent brand name! Disadvantages: Poor software, poor focus, requires more field testing...
...Philips have aquired a worthy reputation for many products, but not The ThumbsCam 1.3MP. Poorly written software which is slow to install, requires too many operator inputs and shows faults both on Win98SE and XP.
The image is soft and not focused. Picture quality appears poor, not what you might expect from 1.3MP. Sound quality is acceptable albeit insensitive compared to some other products.
Style and design of the camera is pleasing, however I should have preferred a wider clipping device to attach to a flat screen monitor.
The remote features of this camera are particually good. Pity that I never managed to delete files using the manual mode switch!
To summarise; look elsewhere until Philips make a better job of a good idea. Could do so much better!...
