I have an iPod which i love to death and usually use instead of a CD player, but due to the warm weather lately i've bein having BBQ's and parties in the garden with family and friends. It was a bit boring with not much of a party atmosphere without some nice loud music, if we were inside the house i'd just stick the music channel on the TV but thought i could do with a nice cd player for the garden that everyone could enjoy.

I didn't want to spend alot of money so had a quick look at the range when in Tesco, which was quite limited as i suppose people rarely use CD players anymore. I chose this Philips one as it was nice and neat and at £30 it seemed good value. The features were displayed on a little notice next to the CD player, along with a brief description, which made it clear it was an easy, simple machine to use.

I brought it home and unpacked it and after reading the simple instruction manual briefly, I plugged it into the wall via the mains adapter, but it also is able to run on batteries.

It looked really stylish, modern and sturdy. Size wise it's decent and doesn't stand out too much. The radio reception was great and easy to tune in and the sound was nice and clear, it picked up Galaxy and Radio one within a few minutes.

I inserted a CD easily and it automatically played, the sound was great and the volume went nice and loud but not TOO loud which was good, if you were having a mad house party and wanted booming music though, this isn't the CD player for you.

All in all the CD player was really good value for money in my opinion and is a sturdy, well made Philips product. All the buttons are clearly labeled and posistioned well, as mentioned above the sound is clear and there's no sound distortion and it copes well with dubstep as i found my old CD player used to buzz when the bass dropped, but this CD player doesn't struggle in the slightest. It's also extremely easy to carry about, even my 5 year old nephew can carry it from room to room without struggle and knows how to turn it on etc. The other great thing about it is that i'm able to connect my beloved iPod to it via the input socket which is amazing!
