Disadvantages: Worked Well For A Few Days, Wouldn't Write Data, Specification Discrepancies, Nero Bundled Version.

...at the Philips URL below. This didn't mention anything on processor speed, but did say Windows '98SE was acceptable. Great! Then I'll have this one. The alternative CD-ReWriter was delivered next day, packed exceptionally well, delivered by courier. I was impressed with Jungle, although part of my order stated as in stock, actually wasn't in stock. I'm still awaiting the other part, with their apologies of course. ~~~~~~~~~~~ On to the CD-ReWriter Opinion..................... I've used this CD-ReWriter about five days, over which time I have tested the capabilities as best I can. Advantages: Easy to manage, good quality recordings
Disadvantages: Format issues (see below)

...usage. DVD-RAM can record quite a lot more but the discs are much more expensive. Why DVD recordable? Quality is better. Simple. Re-recordable discs can be used over 1000 times with NO quality loss. On Philips machines, you can record your TV programmes with VideoPlus+, the same as on VCR. You can re-arrange chapters and titles, name your disc and titles, insert a thumbnail picture and play on most other DVD players (DVD+ format only) The sound is capable of recording Dolby Digital and will reproduce seamless quality. If your VCR is on the blink and you are fed up with managing your recordings and throwing cassettes away, this is for you. If you are in no hurry and like tape, wait until the market sorts itself out and a format becomes standard. You may end up with a Betamax style situation on your hands. Happy shopping….... ...need double that. Games, like Red Alert 2, have alot of high resolution, high colour movies in them too. For Instance, Warlords Battlecry, the popular RTS/RPG hero based game has over 50 movies. Then, take a look at the likes of FF8 and other RPG games...do you really expect a 233mhz processor and likewise sound and graphic cards to handle such large and high res. movies? If you want to keep up with the gaming industry, you have to save your pennies all the time, even after an update to your system if you want to keep up! Watch this space!... Read review
