I did not have any intentions to buy a DVD player and it had never crossed my mind as I had a Sony PS2 which used to work fine but them one day I saw a offer in the news paper advertising a Philips Freeview adapter for £50 when you buy something for £50 so I browsed the website to find something useful and I came across this DVD and I went for it not really knowing what was in it. BOX CONTENTS i opened the blue and white Philips box and check the content this is what was included for the £80 I spent on it. A Philips DVD625 DVD player A Remote control and Philips branded batteries (who would ... more

This little slimlne beauty was bought on impulse whilst Xmas shopping in Boots last year Well sort of.. We have a Sony SLV-900 as our main unit in the lliving room, which is combi unit of DVD/Video. Which to be honest,we have never been really happy with. Sony have fallen from grace in our household. So we were on the lookout for another unit and came across this Philipps DVD 625 at the then low price of £89:99. We read the box and could not believe that this machine does an awful lot more that our very expensive Sony. This Phillips DVD 625 plays everything.. CD CD/R CD/RW DVD DVD/R DVD/RW MP3 ... more

The Philips dvd625 was bought as a christmas gift for my partner, only because it was on special offer at £45 in Boots when you spent over £40 on other items, at the time (December 2003) it was £90 everywhere else. The player is silver effect and is the smallest and most compact dvd player that ive come across. It came with a remote control and is very simple to use. It has the feature of re starting a dvd where you last left it, for those times when you dont have time to finish watching something, so that you can come back to the same place later without having to mess about searching for the ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages The multiplier stays on screen (zoom mode)

This one of 3 DVD players in our household and this is the one that sits proudly in the living room, the 2 previous occupiers of that prime position are now safely tucked up in my childrens bedrooms. This DVD is tiny when compared to its predecessors and is increadably thin (actual size is 34 x 4.3 x 28.5cm). It is Silver in colour as most Home entertainment equipment is nowadays. It plays every format you can imagine DVD +R/RW, DVD -R/RW, CD R/RW, VCD and SVCD as well as Jpeg. Another handy feature is the 5 disk bookmark, the DVD remembers at what point you are if you stop a DVD and resumes ... more

Advantages Advantages Slim and compact, reliable, easy to use

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Limited connector

I've had my DVD625 for over 15 months and it is still performing as well as it did when it came out of the box. Setup is very, very easy. You only have to plug the scart socket into the player and your TV, plug it into the mains, oh and put the batteries into the remote and that's it. Anytime you turn it on, it automatically it comes up on your TV. This is why my selections on picture and sound quality is just good as I honestly not sure. At less than two inches tall and a footprint of a VCR, it will fit on any shelf or media cabinet. The remote is to the point and the options menu can be used ... more
