Which to be honest,we have never been really happy with.
Sony have fallen from grace in our household.
So we were on the lookout for another unit and came across this Philipps DVD 625 at the then low price of £89:99.
We read the box and could not ... ...our very expensive Sony.

The Philips dvd625 was bought as a christmas gift for my partner, only because it was on special offer at £45 in Boots when you spent over £40 on other items, at the time (December 2003) it was £90 everywhere else. The player is silver effect and is the smallest and most compact dvd player that ive come across. It came with a remote control and is very simple to use. It has the feature of re starting a dvd where you last left it, for those times ... ...that you can come back to the same place later without having to mess about searching for the place you were at. There are only 4 buttons on the front of the player itself and with these 4 buttons you can control the player completely, theres the standby/on button, a play button, a s top button and the open/close button for the dvd tray. The player automatically finds the correct channel so that you dont have to change your tv yourself and its very ...

Advantages: Plays anything you put in it!!! Disadvantages: The multiplier stays on screen (zoom mode)
This one of 3 DVD players in our household and this is the one that sits proudly in the living room, the 2 previous occupiers of that prime position are now safely tucked up in my childrens bedrooms.
This DVD is tiny when compared to its predecessors and is increadably thin (actual size is 34 x 4.3 x 28.5cm).
It is Silver in colour as most Home entertainment equipment is nowadays.
It plays every format you can imagine DVD +R/RW, DVD -R/RW, CD ... ...handy feature is the 5 disk bookmark, the DVD remembers at what point you are if you stop a DVD and resumes play from that point, The DVD Player not only remembers the position on the current disk but the previous 4 disks you have played.
It outputs in Dolby Digital and sounds great through surround sound.
The only fault I can find is the stupid x2 appears in the top right if you zoom in, as we have done in the past on some of these cinema screen ...

Advantages: Slim and compact, reliable, easy to use Disadvantages: Limited connector
I've had my DVD625 for over 15 months and it is still performing as well as it did when it came out of the box.
Setup is very, very easy. You only have to plug the scart socket into the player and your TV, plug it into the mains, oh and put the batteries into the remote and that's it. Anytime you turn it on, it automatically it comes up on your TV. This is why my selections on picture and sound quality is just good as I honestly not sure.
At less ... ...it will fit on any shelf or media cabinet. The remote is to the point and the options menu can be used without reading the instructions. I cannot comment on quality as I have a 12" TV, however even through the 'primitive' screen, it looks excellent.
The only real problem you get with any players of this price is the lack of connectors. This applies to this DVD-player as well, it only has a scart socket and stereo output.
This DVD player is simple ...
