Advantages: Zoom, Good Looking, Digital & Optical Outs Disadvantages: Remote Control Too Small
...This is the new PhillipsDVD player to replace the clunky old 710 that had the drive noise fault. It looks far better and the drive is centre mounted.
The graphics menu is updated to that of the 750 and includes 3D Surround Sound from just two speakers. Sound and picture quality are excellent and it has a good parental control system.
This new model has picture zoom, DTS & Truesurround. Unlike the old 710 it has both optical and digital outs.
Compatability is great - it plays all discs extremely well and doesnt have problems with disc formats like other makes of player.
The remote control looks neat (if a little small) and in a nutshell - the player has all the features of a classier, more expensive player but at the budget price. With a brand name like Phillips to boot - you can't go wrong with a 711 !...

Advantages: Excellent Quality, Functionality and Price Disadvantages: Runs a little Hot
...Considering this Player costs under £200 in most stores, it is positively packed with features. It is simple to install and configure, and a dream to use.
The DVD-711 is among the few 'budget' DVD Players to have two SCART sockets, a feature which many other sub-£200 players lack. Add into the bargain S-VHS Output, Optical Digital Audio Out, Coaxial Digital Audio out, Sterio Out, and Composite Video out, it is an absolute bargain.
The DVD Functions on this model are also worth noting. The unit has a 5 disk 'resume' feature - meaning you can power the unit down in the middle of a film, and the player will 'remember' where you left off, and let you restart the movie at that point. There are also the usual 4x and 32x Forward and Reverse viewing options, as well as slow motion, and perfect still frame / frame advance. You can skip...

Advantages: Good make, Looks good Disadvantages: Poor remote control, lacking looks and features
...Unlike most reviewers who are pleased with Phillips, I was dissapointed with this DVD player. The remote is awful and lacks fuctionality - it doesn't even open the DVD tray!!!!! This is a shame because the actual unit looks pretty good, and unlike many DVD players, it has two scart sockets allowing you to hook it up to your TV and your existing Video! Playback was very good, however it struggled with special features on a few DVD's, and further still, it took the Phillips helpline, over one week, and many phone calls later, just to come to the conclusion that this was a fault with the DVD player - Customer service???? It was for this reason I decided to send it back and try a different make, and therefore I would not recommend this product to anybody. The 'improved user interface' did not appeal to me - it seemed difficult to use...

I have fairly sensitive skin and up until now I have always used a wet shave razor. Wet razors didn't leave my skin burning, but they did leave the skin feeling very exposed and would cause it to dry out. Since I'd read that electric razors were good in... more
I was attracted to purchase this DVD player a while ago for its DivX capabilities (something not too many players have).
It is a fairly impressive HDMI player, supporting 1080p High Definition resolution pictures. The HD output is flawless and makes... more
Having wet shaved my whole life, I've decided to invest for an electric dry shaver. Why? Because wet shaving is a pain for me (I switched from Gilette Fusion Power) and I simply don't have enough time to wet shave. Trying not to disappoint my first... more
