The Hard Drive gives good quality, but suffers a serious disavantage. Certain programmes may be rejected due to Copy Protection software built into the unit. The problem here is that the user is not warned ... ...when it proves impossible to stop the machine. The percentage of rejection may be small, but this feature renders the Hard Drive unreliable. Recording onto DVD from archive home videos is quite good, but it is best not to use a Scart, instead go in at front on Phono leads. When using Scart, the recorder is liable to go into pause mode if home recording is of poor quality.
