...The philips 850 AT is by far the best DVD player i have seen. I have viewed films through other DVD'S and this has the best picture and sound quality. It comes with very easy to use instructions and these also guide you through the easy steps of installation. The remote control is very easy to use and this also described in the instructions. It is a great design one of the best i have seen from philips, it is slimline so fits into any space above your T.V set.Overall i would give the philips 850 AT 9 out of 10.... Read review

...Owners of these have been FUMING on the Philips support forums for more than a year. They simply don't work. They crash (!) playing many DVD's, they freeze randomly, etc. Philips has admitted these problems exist (and did so in mid 2005) but has ignored all requests for a fix, while continuing to sell them. Instead, user after user has been told to send their machine in for repair - where it sits for 2-3 months, and is then returned either unfixed, or with new problems. Yet, Philips continues to sell the product! I am not making this up. Check the streamium support forums, and browse around - you'll be hard pressed to find anyone who isn't steaming mad at Philips. ...So you want to record TV? - Forget it! - Philips DVDR3460H will let you down time and time again. Out of 5 sessions 3 were failures - and it could get worse. Reason? - Philips have set themselves up as some sort of ‘media police’ and if the evenings transmission has just one ‘protected’ program, the Philips DVDR3460H will delete the whole evenings recording! So you want to record from DVD to hard disk? - Forget it! - After loosing the original tape of a holiday to Egypt, I still had a copy on DVD and wanted to copy a back up to hard disk - the Philips DVDR3460H does not copy from it’s DVD to hard disk. So you want to enjoy slow motion? - Forget it! - The Philips DVDR3460H ‘On Screen’ display covers so much of the screen you will be lucky to see the pitch, let alone the ball! There is no option to hide on screen displays during playback... Read review
