I bought the DVP 3120 because I needed a new DVD player and this one was recommended by a friend. Obviously I wanted a good quality one (who doesn’t?) and did not want to pay too much for it. After six month usage I can honestly say I am very satisfied. This was a good buy.
I do have a lot of space at home. But I like things being tucked away, looking not too bulky and this one seemed a very good fit. At the moment it sits on top of my television.
Sound: Quite nice but does not work to well with a surround system. The quality just gets lost a little bit.
Getting started: The manual is great and good to understand. It’s very easy to set it up. Just plug it into the power socket and attach the scart cable. Voila, that’s it.
Nice little details: This DVD player seems to play all DVD’s you can think of. I played self-burned ones, DVD’s I bought in the US ( you have to set it up for this) and the UK and it’s also compatible with DIVX( movies you download from the internet). You can also see your camera images, as it has a memory card slot. The regional set up can be changed for nearly any DVD player. You just need to do a bit of internet search. So this is not specific to the Philips DVP 3120.
There are of course disadvantages. But I found it not to bad considering the price, like the sound, memory availability... . Overall: If you look for a cheap DVD player, don’t want the newest one with all the available features, just want this as something simple for your bedroom or the kids – this is the perfect buy.
