Philips Digital Baby Monitor SBC SC 475

Advantages: Crystal Clear, Light Display, Able to Adjust Sensitivity
Disadvantages: Incredibly Loud and Annoying ZZZZT noise sporadically

We bought this Philips Digital Monitor because we have had two Tomy monitors previously and both got to the end of their natural lives, having both been second hand and well used, and they used to buzz in the background constantly. The Philips we bought new and shiny and it was supposed to be the answer to all our problems, and it was ..... for a couple of weeks at least! After that time it has this terrible habit of being peaceful most of the evening ...
...noise (I can do it better than I can spell it)! This noise continues sporadically throughout the night if you don't switch the monitor off and leave it off for a good few hours, which to me defeats the object of having one in the first place. And no, switching channels doesn't seem to help either. Is it me? Do I have an anti-monitor magnetic current in me or what??? Everyone else seemed to like theirs. Advantages: Rechargeable parent Unit, No interference
Disadvantages: costs quite a bit

This is practically the only fully digital monitor on the market. So beware what you buy - digital as a description on other models may only mean the display is digital, not the communication method. It has no interference and the reception can be set to very sensitive. On this setting I can even hear my daughter breathe! One of the most useful features is that the parent unit is rechargeable. Why oh why is this such a rare feature to find on baby ...

...heard another child on the Philips monitor. I love the talk back facility as well, it was very useful when Freya was tiny as if I needed my husband to get me more wipes, nappies etc. or just help me for any reason then he could hear me. The other great thing about this monitor is that you can change to sensitivity of it. For example when our daughter is asleep she often makes little sounds when she is dreaming but as it isnt on the very sensitive ...

It can also be very sensitive when you want it to be for example when our daughter was ill and we wanted to know when she was coughing then we had it on high sensitivity. The only negative thing is that if you use the night light, which we rarely do as its not very bright, then it quickly wears out the battery power and the monitor will beep to say the power is low. The first monitor we bought never worked. 3 hours wasted trying to get it to work thinking it was me. Second monitor worked for a week and the failed. 1 hour wasted. Third monitor, great, very clear sound, rechargeable batteries in the parent unit that lasted all night. At last, guess we must have been unlucky. However last week it failed.
