Advantages: Makes a good paperweight Disadvantages: where to begin? Crashes/freezes often, tacky looking, difficult to use
This MP3 layer is an insult to all other mp3 players out there which actually work. The thing constantly freezes up on you (upon which you have to restart it by pressing the volume up and power key together).
When it freezes the thing will keep playing through the playlist, wasting your power but refuses to take any kind of instruction from you, the owner.
The picture slideshow function sounds nifty, if only I could ... ...to stay away from logic and ease of use, everything you do with it must be an adventure in of itself!
For 6 gigs you get a good number of songs, and the windows media player sync ability works out quite well in that regard, but nothing else really works up to snuff.

The picture slideshow function sounds nifty, if only I could get it to work. This thing has a wonderful knack to stay away from logic and ease of use, everything you do with it must be an adventure in of itself!

The picture looks alluring but I assure you those buttons and lights are very tacky and cheap looking once you get it. The touchscreen and pads get dirty very quickly.
You can adjust the volume after you locked the keys, a feature that for some reason wasn't available in some other mp3 players I owned.
Advantages: small, attractive design Disadvantages: Too many to list here!
...send me a relpacement after philips turned me down. The replacement product has been fine, but as a product i feel it performs very badly. The screen is small and too cramped to view pictures or information easily. The biggest problem I ave with the HDD1620 is that it has no support for WMP11, music simply doesnt transfer properly, and philips still havent released new frimware.
When music is on the player its a different story. Navigation is easy, ...

Advantages: Sound Quality Disadvantages: see review
The 6GB Philips gogear is a compact little jukebox that weighs slightly more than your mobile phone. It boasts great sound quality (providing you get better headphones than the standard in-the-box ones) and innovative design along with a nice little LCD screen. I received this as a present last christmas and was disappointed as I originally wanted a Creative Zen Micro which I believe to be superior in sound quality but nothing more. But soon enough ... ...not as good as the ipods circular pad but is the next best thing - definately better in my view than the grinding Zen Micro. The sound quality is great and another advantage over the Zen Micro is the independant volume control which is easy to find blind as all controls are - nobody wants to get their mp3 player out every time they want to change volume. Also the interface and syncronisation with windows media player are very easy to use. There are, ...

Advantages: Small , Sleek , Light Disadvantages: Short Battery Life , Crashes
...The battery life according to Philips is 18 hours and i have to say thats utter rubbish , i dont think i have got mine past 9 hours. The battery life is absolutley horrendous. The player offers very high quality sound which is probably one of its best features. The software that comes with the player is very simple to use and works fantasticly well in synchronisation with Windows Media Player. I have found that this player although it has its faults ... ...I believe there are better players on the market but this certainly does have some very nice features , like the scroll bar with the fancy lights. The buttons on the side are easy to get too and i dont find awkward but some people have said to me they would find it awkward. The players charges fully in 4 hours which is rather fast , but still they battery doesnt last much longer. On the whole im happy with this player simply because it looks and ...

Advantages: Small, sleek and cool looking. Disadvantages: Tends to freeze a lot without the latest firmware upgrade.
...checked on the on the philips website and they had a firmware upgrade available. It was quick and easy to download and upgrade my player, and afwards it's worked like a charm, not a single problem with it.
I havent really used any of the other features like the picture viewer or sound recorder, but as a stand alone MP3 player I find this to be an excellent little device. I would deffinatly recommend this player to anyone who is looking for a simple, ...

Advantages: They are useful as a doorstop Disadvantages: Phillip's customer services leave a lot to be desired
I had an mp3 player bought for me as a present. I was really dissapointed in it. I didn't use it much until recently when I started to listen to music whilst I walk to college. It even still has the plastic protector over the screen.
But the hard drive on it stopped working. I contacted phillips and they were going to come and collect it and fix it for me but when I got my bf to dig out the payment details for it, it turns out that it has just passed ... ...the present my bf bought me is broken and there is nothing I can do about it despite the fact Phillips admitted on the phone there was obviously something wrong with the harddrive on it. My bf spent £149 on a ticking piece of useless c**p and there is nothing we can do about it
I was shocked at Phillip's lack of customer service. I play paintball competitively and the service received by the suppliers of paintballing equipment is exemplarary. ...
