The 6GB Philips gogear is a compact little jukebox that weighs slightly more than your mobile phone. It boasts great sound quality (providing you get better headphones than the standard in-the-box ones) and innovative design along with a nice little LCD screen. I received this as a present last christmas and was disappointed as I originally wanted a Creative Zen Micro which I believe to be superior in sound quality but nothing more. But soon enough the gogear grew on me, the touch sensitive pad is not as good as the ipods circular pad but is the next best thing - definately better in my view than the grinding Zen Micro. The sound quality is great and another advantage over the Zen Micro is the independant volume control which is easy to find blind as all controls are - nobody wants to get their mp3 player out every time they want to change volume. Also the interface and syncronisation with windows media player are very easy to use. There are, however, drawbacks. The processing speed is not too good and it does tend to lag up between screens and actions which can get annoying if you use it for running and you have to wait to skip track. Also the battery life is not too good. The reason it doesn't live up to 18 hours is because nobody uses the set up these tests are based on. If you use the (excellent) bass enhancing SRS WOW sound setting the battery is eaten up like hell. Expect 8 hours out of it on a full charge. Customer service is also very good with emails responded to within a day in my case at least. It also has a handy feature for an mp3 player with so many songs called "Playlist on the go" which I find useful for those times a song comes on random shuffle that I have no idea what it is. It happens when you have 3000+ songs in one place, some you just have not heard. This feature basically adds songs to a playlist at the touch of a button - very handy. Overall I would happily reccomend this to anybody who wants an mp3 player. It's easy to use, sounds great, looks great and it wont break the bank and wont make you look silly infront of your nano mad mates.

This is a good review, the ony thing I would suggest is some formatting, to seperate the information out a bit, this will make it easier for other users to read, helpful

Good review. A bit more info maybe would have been good, but it was still really good. Also, a few separate paragraphs wuld have been better than one big block. Scarlett x
