...The Philips1340, or Billy, is a very basic hand blender. It’s a one piece unit and because of its length I find it easier to keep upright on the work top. It’s very easy to grab when I make my slob attempts at cooking. I do also have a Braun, but that disassembles into two parts and stays in the cupboard with its chopper and whisking accessories.
I’d bought the Philips cos I wanted something cheap to use for making soap. I still haven’t got around to soap making yet, but hand blenders are meant to be ideal for soap making. They help speed up the reaction between caustic soda and fat, and ensure everything is evenly mixed.
