"Philips HR 2000 blender......"

After overindulging over Christmas I decided that I was putting myself onto a strict diet, instead of making myself a sandwich and having a packet of crisps for my lunch, what better than t make myself some homemade soup, it was certainly a cheap option and I also found it really filling. The one toll that I came to rely on whilst making the soup was my hand held blender, I had brought it from Tesco a couple of years ago but about a month into my new healthy eating process I found that this broke! Not having a lot to spend on a new one I spent quite a lot of time on researching a new model. After careful consideration I decided not to go with a hand held blender this time and instead get a work top blender and the model that I ended up buying was the Philips HR2000. I have brought a couple of other Philips products before I had some confidence in the brand as well as being impressed with the price.

I brought my blender from the online retailer Amazon and it cost me just £19.99. I was really pleased with how little this was, I opted for the worktop blender as opposed to the handheld as there was hardly any difference in the price, as well as this model having a couple of extra features. The blender could be brought from many other high street electrical retailers, I have see the same model in the Curry’s store and I am sure that it will also be in Comet.

The Blender came really well packaged and was quite simple to install. I did take care to read the instruction booklet. The booklet is really well presented and has clear diagrams to help you; at the back of it is a 2 year manufacturer’s guarantee. The blender basically consists of the base which is what you plug into the mains, I would guess that the cord is 75cm in length so you can plug it in and still pull it to where you want it on your surface.

The base has the speed settings for the blender and with this model there are two. I have seen blenders that have about 5 settings on but I really don’t think I would use this many, 2 is perfectly adequate for me. The speeds can be selected on a black dial on the blender and this is also where you switch it on and off. The base is a brushed chrome colour and is really easy to keep clean, not that I have noticed it really gets to dirty, a gentle wipe with warm water will do the trick.

The jug of the blender has a capacity of 1.5l and I find that this is a great capacity, even if the liquid you are blending fills more than the plastic jug I have found that it is so easy and a quick and easy process using this blender that you just do one amount and then the other. The blades seem to be really sharp, not that I have tested them but that they appear to have no problem in chopping anything that I put in there! The blades are in a star shape and there are 5 altogether. It detaches from the blender so it is quite safe to wash it or put it in your dishwasher. The jug has clear markings on it for measurements and has a spout to make pouring from it easier.

As I mentioned at the start of this review, the main thing that I would be using this blender for is to make my homemade soup and I have found that it copes with this dish really well. I have also used the blender for making various dips and it appears the smaller amount then the blender will struggle but then I have found this is a common problem and it really is my only criticism of this great blender.

In summary, I would have no hesitation in recommending this blender to anyone. I think the price that I paid for it is fantastic value. It works effectively and the blades are sharp yet are also safe to clean and handle. The design is very good with this model and it is easy to operate.

I give this blender 4 out of 5

Thank you for reading.
