I bought this from Amazon to replace a Russell Hobbs Simply Smoothie 12620. I'll review that later too because it was pretty rubbish! I use a blender every day at least once so my needs are quite demanding.
This by comparison is great quality.

Advantages: Easy to clean, glass jug, stainless steel blades Disadvantages: No stirrer supplied

The jug falls into the correct position easily and does not need 'locking in' to secure it. It's a little heavy but that's part of it's appeal. Yes I'm talking quality again here. There's no tap to get clogged. The blades and ... more

The moment you put it on your kitchen bench and the little suction feet kick into action you're thinking.. "what a great idea!" The brush metal look is great for cleaning. The light surrounding the dial looks very cool and I just had to try it with all the lights out!! The dial does the on and off along with variable speeds min-max. There's buttons for smoothies, ice and pulse. So yes you get quite a deal of control over the speed.
The jug falls into the correct position easily and does not need 'locking in' to secure it. It's a little heavy but that's part of it's appeal. Yes I'm talking quality again here. There's no tap to get clogged. The blades and their surround are totally stainless steel and won't discolour like most plastic variants. The rubber seal is thick and should last years. The lid seal is rubberised and has another 'great idea'.. straining slots to help avoid those BITS kids hate.
My only negative is that there is no supplied stirrer. I thankfully could use the old one that does just fine. Most people won't have any need of one anyway if you tend to just make fruit smoothies. But if you make green smoothies (much easier way of getting your salad greens trust me) things like raw spinach find it harder to slide down the glass jug.
There's also a soy/nut milk attachment that after reading the excellent instructions I was good to go. Almond milk on demand.. what a bonus.
I've noticed a hint of a smokey smell when using it but I gather that's just wearing in of the motor.
The instruction are very clear and with diagrams. There's only a few recipes included but if you're thinking about buying a blender you must already be quite creative in the kitchen. Just test this baby out! Oh and those blackened bashed about bananas are the BEST in smoothies. Never throw them away again!
Advantages: High quality, good performance Disadvantages: None!
I bought this smoothie maker a couple of weeks ago, and am very happy with it. It's a nice design with a brushed aluminum base and simple dial. I use it to make fruit, yogurt and ice smoothies, however, you can use it to make margaritas, ice-blended coffees, milk shakes and even soya milk!! (I will explain later). The jug is made of glass, not plastic and can hold up to 1.25 litres. You can put the glass jar, the lid and measuring cup (which fits ... ...not the removable blade). There is a separate filter that you can put in where the measuring cup is kept (not in photo, but it would be in the centre of the jug). This allows you to put fruits that contain seeds or skin that you don't want 'blended' in your smoothie. By using the filter you can also make soya milk! You have to soak the soya beans first then put in the filter to be 'ground' up with water. There are three different buttons: Smoothie, ...

Advantages: Powerful and well designed - pretty blue lights on the dial! Disadvantages: Doesn't make the ice powdery enough
...manufacturing!
On taking the Philips HR2094 out of the packaging it was immediately appealing due to it's sturdy yet contemporary design.
Once you're ready to set it to work, in addition to the manual "min - max" dial settings, there are three specific settings you can use at the press of a button: ice, smoothie and pulse.
The smoothie setting blends your chosen ingredients swiftly and with great results, any extra oomph you require can be easily ... ...only downside I'm still getting to grips with is the ice function, which whilst managing to chip the ice perfectly adequately, doesn't turn it into the snowy texture I prefer, I realise though this is purely my preference.
Overall, I'd say that I'm pleased with this blender, ice texture aside! ...
