Like most of the new reviews that are gonna be coming onto ciao at the moment i got this as a christmas present. Which was lucky, because i wasn\'t spending my christmas at home and forgot my razor.
I used this shaver on christmas evening. After taking me about 15 minutes to get into the packet. It was one of thos stupid hard plastic cases, that takes a rocket scientist or a trained member of the S.A.S. to get into. But everything was displayed in the packet quite nicely. With the shaver, and Nivea conditoner displayed upright at the fron of the pack, and the plug/charger tucked around the back, out of display sight, but still visible. Obviously, easy to display in a shop this way, like most things, with the flat back and protuding front.
As for the product itself, it looks very stylish with the silver and blue.
Very modern shape and colours. The feel of it is very comfortable on the hand and is easy to grip, due to slight ridges around the back of the shaver. This also makes it very comfortable and easy to hold, which i would say is one of the most important factors in something that is to be used daily. Also, obviously, it must be good at its job. Which this shaver is. It did a very good job, and was the closest shave i have ever had. I was previously using a gillette mach 3 razor and shaving foam. The Philips shaver eliminates the need for shaving foam, which i always found an annoyance.
I think that the reason for the closeness is the fact that each of the heads vibrates/girates and moves independantly, meaning that they can move accordingly to each person's individual features. Moving around the jaw bone and cheek bones, means that it gets alot closer to the skin. A normal razor can only tilt backwards and forwards, whereas the Philips shaver can move in all directions. It made all the difference in my opinion. It even made the much harder places to reach like the neck, below the jaw line and around the Adams Apple. Once again, because of the swivel and pivot, it was alot easier to get closer to the skin. Though i must admit, i ended up with quite a sore neck afterwards. I don't know it this was down to me, or the shaver. I probably either pressed too hard, or didn't put enough conditioner on.
The conditioner feature is very easy to use, it is also very effective aswell. All you do is simply press down on the upper blue button, and it releases the conditioner, which is used in place of shaving foam. Then it releases the liquid, which is also good for the skin. This is good because many people get dry skin around the areas they shave, and the moisture combats this. To get the conditioner into the actual shaving unit, you simply press the small bottle onto the hole, and press down onto the nozzle 5 times. This fills the conditioner compartment. Im not sure as of yet how long this will last.
To turn the shaver on itself all you do is simply press down on the small rubber button and it goes until you press it again. When i first used it i thought it was going to be quite loud, however, this certainly wasn't the case. It was a very quiet vibration, that could barely be heard in the room next to me. This is good because it means it can be used without waking anyone els up.
With the shaver you also get a shaver adapter, which most bathrooms are now fitted with, it means that it can either be used by the battery power. Which are rechargable, and the shaver comes with everything that is needed for this. Including, a little stand so that the shaver can stand upright. The accessories are very useful and practical.
Everytime you use th shaver you have to clean it under warm running water for 30 seconds, which i suppose is neccesary, but if you are getting ready for work, then 30 seconds seems like a long time. One of the other accessories is a cleaning brush, which doesn't really get into all of the nooks and crannies of the shaver.
Overall, so far the product has been very satisfactory and i would recommend it to anyone looking to buy an electric shaver, as it has everything you need and more, with the moisturising conditioner.
