Advantages: Digital Optical In (Coax), Good Speakers, Easy Setup, Nice Upscaling Playback. Disadvantages: Coax Digital In, Disc Tray is a bit flimsy.
A good little system which gives you everything you could want from a DVD based HTS at the moment. Speakers give good sound, the upscaling is good and contrary to what the previous reviewer says it plays all kinds of burnt disks (CD & DVD), maybe it simply didn't like the ones he was using but I can confirm it works with DVD+R (dual and single layer).
My only critism of this unit is that it's tray seems a little flimsy and flexes a bit if you push ... ...that).
Otherwise setup is about as clear and simple as you can get and it's a nice unit.
One thing to be wary of is that this unit's Digital-In is Coaxial rather than the more standard Optical (often called TOS Link). You CAN connect it to other digital audio devices but you will probably need a optical to coaxial adapter to do so (get 'em from Maplins). For the money and the features right now it's hard to find a better unit. ...

Advantages: Uses pro logic surround, user freindly Disadvantages: weak sub woofer.
Its perfect for an apartment type housing. Personaly i thnk the sub woofer is a little weak. The DVD player plays just about all the formats such as SVCD, MPEG, AVI and DIVX. One of the cool feature it had is the Ipod dock system. You can listen to your ipod and even watch movies from it, if you have a video Ipod. Just connect the AV connection to the dock and ready to watch. It will work with any type of Ipode or even Zune because it had the adapters ...

Advantages: Good sound, good look Disadvantages: No features, no ability to play burnt dvds
...am not a fan of philips home theater systems, yes they usually look nice and have some interesting looking speakers but they just don't perform to the same level as the competiton.
This system will play both DVD and cd, it has an HDMI interface and it is a progressive scan unit, however, it will not play any burnt dvds regardless of format, it will not play DivX but it will play burnt cds.
The instruction manual is easy to use, the wired speakers ...
