The system is very sleek design with an all silver colour and a front display glass cover in black, the speakers compliment this with all silver expect for the speak grills being black material, the front of the unit has controls for volume, Play, Pause, Rew and FF Source Input and all that is incorporated in two small jog wheels also on the front is your DVD drawer and Eject button and a USB connection point. The top and sides are plain silver and the rear is black with various connections (details in a bit)

I bought this for £149.99 about a year ago and it's still around the same price, I bought it mainly for the 5.1 surround sound and I was on a budget so good price for Dolby digital, I also wanted a HDMI up Scaling DVD Player which this fits, the Upscale will go up to 1080i and supports all HD TV resolutions below that, the speakers provided come in different shapes two very tall rear free standing speakers and two small free standing front as well as a centre speaker and a large Bass Box all of which are provided with around plenty of speaker wire around 10 meters each (note an additional wireless add-on can be purchased to make rear speakers wireless) the front of the unit sports a USB connection and you can plug your Flash USB sticks in to play MP3`s or even Divx Movies as the player is divx cert, iPods do also work as I have tested and played full feature film back at no problem and it up scale's to boot.

Connections, on the rear you will find 5 speaker connectors these are small colour coded blocks and help to very easily plug the right speaker in the right hole, and only the correct colour will fit, you also get a SCART RGB connection, S-Video, Composite and Component (UP-Scale to 576p max) and HDMI (Up to 1080i) using HDMI 1.2, also on the rear are a TV input Audio Jacks and a Digital Coaxial Connection(note Toslink is not supported but convertors are available for around £10-15) I connect my TV to the unit directly through HDMI and connect my sky and Xbox 360 via Toslink and a convertor/splitter to coaxial meaning I can hear my sky+ and 360 in Dolby Digital. Over all connections are very easy but if you don't have a clue about Visual and Audio connection s you may need a little help from someone who does.

12-bit/108MHz video processing, DivX Ultra Certified for enhanced playback of DivX videos, Plays DivX, MP3, WMA and JPEG digital camera photos. MPEG1, MPEG2, DivX 3.11, DivX 4.x, DivX 5.x, DivX 6.0, DivX Ultra are all supported and can play media from DVD-Video, DVD+R/+RW, DVD-R/-RW, Video CD/SVCD, CD-R/CD-RW
Using Component, the Upscalling is barely noticeable, Darks seem too dark and blocky pixilation is apparent, but that's because you only get a resolution of 576p meaning it is only showing the picture progressive rather than interlaced but us HDMI and its soon apparent that upscaling is great for HD TV`s, it shows true colours and smooth's any jaggedness removes pixilation although a little too sharp if I'm being petty, the systems menu is very basic it gives you controls form the DVD player, The Sound and The Picture, the picture menu allows you to set correct resolutions and select which outputs you require, the Sound menu allows you to choose from stereo, PCM, Dolby Surround and Dolby Digital Settings included time delays on speakers, there is also a speaker test. The DVD menu is your basic DVD Menu, language and subtitle options etc. A great thing is plug in your iPod with MP3`s and Divx movies and you can play these at the resolution set on your TV if a little slow with menus and loading but the playback is great, also can play slideshow for photos. One complaint about the DVD player is the drawer it's as thin as paper and my 3 yr old had nearly broke it off numerous times and as such I have a piece of tape over it until he is old enough to stay off.

The Total Output Power is 600 W this works out at (RMS): 4x75W, 2x150W has a D/A converter: 24 bit, 192 kHz
The Sound Systems supported are Dolby Digital, Dolby Prologic II, DTS, Stereo and has a Sound Enhancement Class "D" Digital Amplifier, also various pre equalised settings are available these are Night Mode, Action, Cartoon, Classic, Concert, Drama, Gaming, Jazz, Lounge, MTV, News, Party, RnB, Rock and Sports and can play audio from Audio CD, DVD+R/+RW, DVD-R/-RW, CD-R/RW, also included is an RDS FM tuner to allow full listening of all local FM stations with RDS support.

The sound is great on digital mode, you can hear the directions feel the explosions it really is like the cinema, other modes are good too but don't touch digital, once complaint about the sound is that it can either be too loud or too quiet and I'm forever turning up and down in sync with what I need, but overall Dolby digital is amazing and every home should have it, another complaint is the base cannot be turned off a night mode is present for late at night but it just simply reduce sthe volume and reduces base it doesn't turn off completely. But I can overlook this niggles for the great sounds, the speakers produce good sounds and I hear no static or distortion and sound is very clean.

Overall, its a great player in its range there are better as there are worse but you do much worse if you didn't pick this in the range, the remote has a button for everything and yet is still compact and the sound and picture quality's are above average, also so are the features, a Toslink connections and more system settings would be nice but nothings perfect.
