Philips MCM 760

Advantages: Looks great, small size, USB port for direct play from MP3 player
Disadvantages: intermittent fault, customer service not great

...one of these cds the stereo does not seem to be able to 'read' it and it comes up with 'no disc'. However, I often find that if I take it out and put it back in again it works- I have no yet found a disc that wouldn't play, although it can be irritating taking it out and putting it back in. I have contacted the Philips support centre over the telephone but did not find the staff very helpful and they suggested that I had done something wrong with the CDs! I has only attempted to play pre-recorded cds on this machine before, so it has only been brought to my attention recently. I am currently attempting to locate the receipt in order to see if I can get this looked at- if I so I would happily accept the same model again. Other from this minor inadequacy I could not find any fault with the stereo and would happily recommend... Read review

Advantages: Fantastic all in one hi fi.
Disadvantages: Ariel sligtly annoying.

...I have owned a couple of Hi fi's in the past, while being the main tool for playing my music other than my computer. However this Hi fi has shaun a new light, the sound quality is fantastic and the included ipod dock is fantastic, solid, sturdy well built peice of kit. Now I dont have to plug my ipod into my computer to listen to tunes!! Fantastic!. This hi fi is the perfect size to fit neatly on my shelf and has ipod dock with no less than around 8 adaptors for all sizes of ipod, well done philips!! Generous. Not only that it features a great usb port for any other portable media device to be plugged in via cable and an Aux input for anything else you can think of putting in this music machine!! The only down side I can think of is the radio ariel being a wire that comes out the back, but its easily hidden and means you can bend... Read review

...The Philips MCM-350 is the only item I own from Philips, having previously bought mostly Sony. By and large I'm quite happy, it is a stereo suited to a bedroom and the fact that it fits on a normal depth shelf was a major selling point for me ( the main component is less than 30cm/12" deep ). it was very well priced if you compare it to similar sized systems from Sony or Panasonic. The CD player has an unusual and unique way of opening, which is something I like about the Micro System, my only worry is that this design will be prone to breaking after regular use. Maybe it's a little paranoid, but it's something I worry about after previous experiences. Another thing that pleases me about the stereo is the detail, the remote is a work of art, the stereo turns off if you forget and automatically conserves electricity and the radio gets...
