Something else I’ve done for ages is to buy rechargeable razors, for the simple reason that it saves messing the bathroom up whilst fitting a specific shaver socket, and so my last three electric razors have been Philips rechargeable jobs.

Cheap, Looks Good, Minimal Visual Difference Between it and Dearer brands
Not completely smooth, Doesn't go close enough to the stubble for big occasions
"...responsiveness of my more expensive Philips razors it still delivers a gentle shave and does not hurt compared to the other cheap electric razor it replaced.
It gets in quite close but again not as close as our most expensive razor the Philips PT870. It is functional and offers a more than adequate shave for all but the most refined of circumstances. I wouldn't use it if I were going to a wedding for example I'd leave that to the PT870 but the rest ..."
