I have a lot of DVDs at home, but I didn’t have a decent DVD player, so I watched them on my computer. Last Christmas I visited my local Comet and came across a sale. I spent £29.99 on a Philips DVD player.
About Philips:
Philips is a commonly known name for Royal Philips Electronics. It was founded by Gerard Philips and his father in Netherlands in 1891. Today it is one of the largest electronics companies in the world. The one I’m writing about is one of Philips DVD player products, given the full name, Philips DVP3880.
Packaging and Features:
My Philips DVP3880 comes in a well designed recycled box with the weight of 1.8 Kg. It contains a DVD player set, a Mains Cable, a remote with an AA battery supplied, and a User manual in English.
The player set is approximately 35cm wide, 3cm high and 20cm deep. The set and the remote both are in a black colour. At the top corner of the set there are 7 features logos including HDMI, ProReader Drive, etc. The HDMI player tray is in the front on the left side; three functional buttons and one USB connect on the right side. In the back of the set there are few sockets, such as power, HDMI out, TV out + Audio out, etc.
Usage:
The player is really easy to getting started. First you should connect to electrical power. This apparatus is flitted with an approved 13 Amp plug. Then you can put a DVD into the HDMI tray. You can use the functional button on the set or the remote to start play as you want.
Price and Availability:
In the UK you can buy Philips DVP3880 in many retailers store and websites. You will find the prices vary. As a guide, it’s currently sold on Amazon UK website for £38.82.
My personal experience:
My first impression was very good. It looked simple, but stylish. When I put the player in my living room I was happy with its appearance. It really matched with my LG HD TV and my Humax Foxsat HDR box.
After almost a half year use I would like to say I’m satisfied with my choice. The picture is excellent and the sound is fantastic. I even found on this player I can watch some of my copied DVD, which was not working on my computer. It’s really amazing. So far my Philips DVP3880 can play any DVD, CD and photos I have.
My only downside is the remote. The remote is very cute and comfortable to hold. However it took me a little while to get used to the remote. There is a slight delay from the time you push a button to getting a response.
In conclusion I’m very pleased with the performance of Philips DVP3880. I would highly recommend this player if you are thinking of buying one. It’s a great value for money.
