So I phoned Philips looking for a spare part. No joy: they don't make them. So, basically a throw-away after probably 6 long haul flights and a few afternoons on the sofa!

These are actually quite nice headphones. The claimed noise reduction of 30 dBA is reasonable, and good enough to let you sleep better on long haul flights and cut out the sounds around you at home to increase your listening pleasure.
I found that the ear cups fit my (small) ears perfectly. The bars across the top of the head cause dents in your scalp after a few hours, not very comfortable.
The problem is that after only 2 and a bit years of light and occasional use, the bracket holding the left ear cup has broken. Not only broken, but shattered into small crumbly pieces. Looks like the wrong plastic mix was used here.
