Advantages: soundquality for price, nice design Disadvantages: somewhat uncomfortable to ware
As I was walking around my local shoppingcenter, I popped into the home electronics and stuff depot. As I am a great musicfan and kind of an audiofile, I expect a great deal from speakers. And sometimes my expectations are let down by "200 pound super duper hifi headphones, that cost much less than the preamp needed to power them" But these HUGLY inexpencive heaphones... My god... The box was simple and nice, but somewhat difficult to unpack. But all the discomforts are put aside, when you put these headphones on and listen to some sweet-sweet rock or a fast paced dnb track.
First thing what you will notice is the lovely, lovely BASS. Just incredible amounts of pure bass. all the way down to 15Hz. the 100dB sensitivity is just SO right for listening for music or even in games. Seriously, I was able to hear another player from the other side of the map in Counter Strike...Their just that good.
The second thing you will noitice, is the overall soft and "warm" sound of the frecuency range. Soundsystems are characterized as warm or cold. "cold" systems have too much high frequencies and will sound pretty nasty. "warm" systems have more bass and less high. This is a fun fact that would come in handy short circuting some soundshop employees...
And the peak of the range is in 22000Hz, so you get 100dB sensitivity ALL the way of the human hearingspan, which is about 63-18000Hz avarage.
And this brings some well educated people to a question: " What about the midrange?" until these headphones, earlier attempts were pretty bad, lacking linear frecuencyrange, eg there was a pretty big gap in the midranges. But i dont know how, with magic dust or something, these headphones sound so clean and awsome...only thing better are top dollar multispeaker Dj headphones...
Enough of the sound. Now to talk about the rigidity. Snow, rain, extreme cold, summerhot, dirt, dust, sweat...these can resist them all. Well...to a point. The fabric of some older versions was pretty lowgrade and deformed over time, but as I used them in extreme conditions outdoors(STILL REMEBER, THESE ARE INDOOR HEADPHONES) and for a year they were holding up just fine. Then, after a full array of weatherconditions, I found them to be too ugly to wear in the public. So I went to the shop again and got me another pair. and the price was still 8 pounds...
And after a couple of months something every teen with headphones has experienced: the cable was cought behind a chair on a bus. And the RCA jack came clean off. But it was eazy to fix. Went to a electronics dealer and got meself a 1.50 pound Lumberg 3.5mm RCA jack, 15 minutes and some soldering and I was back in business.
But if you dont use them outdoors or go jogging with them, these headphones will be with you for a LONG time.
But still, they are not so comfortable to ware. The middle arch has no padding and if you have delicate headskin, this will make your head hurt. The reason is, that the pressure from the arch does not "clamp" them to your head as firm. So either way, your head will heart from the arch or the top of your ears will, because the cups are not so big.
But I see that as an advantage, because it will prevent your hearing from damage. Because all music and sound damages your hearing. And by the end of the day, there is no better music than silence.
Advantages: Good quality, nice design, confortable. Disadvantages: Big size.
Philips SHP 2000 great headphones on right price. Few years later I was looking for headphones and i found these one. In shop was not many headphones, so i took this. It wasn't very expensive, so i though i will have it some months and it will broke down. But i was wrong, i still have it and it still working perfectly. Moreover i many times inadvertently dropped it from my table, but that did not change sound quality. Naturally if you keep dropping ...
