I recently bought an MP3 player, after looking for as much information as I could about them, but what I failed to look into was the headphone part of the player. I was more interested in storage, and how to use one, and when I got the player home, was dismayed that the colour co-ordinated earplugs were simple slot in your ear ones.

I tried to get used to them, but after several weeks, gave up because either your ears are the right shape or they are not, and mine just weren't. I needed some kind of headset that I could wear discreetly as I was travelling by train and didn't want to use the more obvious headsets that are available for computer, etc.

Looking through the choices available, there really wasn't much allowance made for people like me. Many of the modern earphones are the same type as the ones that came with the player, and depend upon your ear shape conforming to some kind of norm, and mine don't.

There were over the head ones which could have been hidden by hair, but I really wanted something more discreet and modern to go with the image, and Philips came up with the answer in this set.

They are robust little things, and have been badly abused since I had them, flung into my handbag between uses, and really show no signs of wear whatsoever.

These are guaranteed for a year, and were priced at 12.99 GBP and judging by the prices shown on ciao, I would suggest that people take a really good look around the shops and find them at the best price possible.

Overall thoughts.

For a smaller item, these really do have an impact on my experience of MP3 players. Yes, I bought a cheap one, but the sound quality is superb. These stay in place as opposed to the other ones. The wires get a bit tangled up sometimes, but if you roll the wires up between uses are easy to untangle.

Not the fanciest of the pile, but at this price, they were the only alternative available that offered me everything I wanted, i.e. simplicity, within my set budger, quality of make, quality of sound, and robust enough to survive a journey with me.

One warning - they do not have a neckband. This is actually easier for me to use without, though some may prefer to have one. Being able to take them out without the hassle of a neckband works better for me since I have a strap holding my spectacles and a neckband would certainly have been cumbersome, and awkward to use.
