We have been looking at getting a webcam for a while as we are emigrating to Oz in a couple of weeks and want to keep in touch with the family. We bought 3 of these from PC world online, they were only £12.80 (costs £35 in store), so we thought we would give it a try. The camera itself is light and stands well and the long cable means that you have more flexibility in where you put it. We installed the disc and it set up in minutes and started chatting through messenger straight away. As this was the first time I had used a wecam at home, I was impressed by the quality even though the picture quality for the majority of webcams is pretty much the same, unless you want to spend a lot of money on one, but as long as its fairly light the picture quality is surprisingly good. The one thing we were unsure about beforehand, was whether to get a webcam with a headset or a stand alone mic, this one has the stand alone mic, which was better than I expected it to be and it meant that we could both chat at the same time. You can attach the mic to your clothes using the clip, but we just left it on the desk. It has a holster type thing with it so you can stick it to the side of your desk and take out the mic when you want to use it, I guess there is less chance of misplacing it that way. You can also take stills by clicking a button on the side of the webcam, the quality isnt great (640 x 480) I know that some cameras offer a better quality of still, but what do you expect for £12.80!! All in all a real bargain!!!
