Advantages: Relatively cheap and robust Disadvantages: Poor picture quality
The PhilipsSPC 200N PC Webcam, I only recommend it as a budget camera!
The Camera's User guide is VERY easy to follow - only two pages of instruction in each of 8 languages! Installation takes minutes.
Camera (about 4X6X8 cm and as light as a feather) plugs into a USB so does not require an extra power supply. It is very robust, but being so light it tends to be dragged to the side by the weight of its own wire!
Flat base so cannot be mounted onto a laptop or speakers. Looks just like the image on the box?
Picture quality is painfully bad, and cannot cope with ANY movement, but most budget webcams are like that?
Microphone not inbuilt but a massive one you have to keep right in front of your moth is included.
Software you can use to take videos with the camera is included in the installation CD, but video quality is ...
Advantages: Great picture Disadvantages: Not compatible with MS Vista
A very neat little web cam with a great picture - even in low light conditions. The sound works really well, as does the face tracking feature (it tracks your movement to keep your face in the centre of the shot). This is definitely an impressive cam.
Now the negatives...whilst not really problematic the mount could be a little more positive, but the biggest drawback for me is that whilst my 6 month old cam worked fine on Windows XP, it definitely does not work with MS Vista. Having just purchased a new desktop already loaded with Vista I had not expected Philips flagship web cam not to work with it. It gets worse, as having contacted Philips they are saying that they currently have no information as to when a driver will be released. ...
Advantages: great price, extra long usb cable, has external mic Disadvantages: cant attach to monitor
We have been looking at getting a webcam for a while as we are emigrating to Oz in a couple of weeks and want to keep in touch with the family. We bought 3 of these from PC world online, they were only £12.80 (costs £35 in store), so we thought we would give it a try. The camera itself is light and stands well and the long cable means that you have more flexibility in where you put it. We installed the disc and it set up in minutes and started chatting through messenger straight away. As this was the first time I had used a wecam at home, I was impressed by the quality even though the picture quality for the majority of webcams is pretty much the same, unless you want to spend a lot of money on one, but as long as its fairly light the picture quality is surprisingly good. The one thing we were unsure about beforehand, was whether to ...
