Browsing the internet looking for a web-cam, this is the cheapest one I could find. It cost me only £32 from simply.co.uk and that including delivery too!
I was amazed when I opened the packaging just how small the camera one! It's tiny! It's also very light and feels a bit flimsy though, which isn't a good thing as it could be easily broken.
However, unditerred by this I installed the software with no problems at all and the camera worked first time. It comes bundled with a little attachtment which you stick on top of your monitor so you can put the camera there, although I had a problem with it falling out as my monitor is on a tilted shelf, so had to resort to sticking it down with blue tack.
At £32 though, this is a top quality camera!! It is adequate enough for anyone wanting to use netmeeting with a 56k modem and I like it how it automatically adjusts the amount of light let into the lense according to how much is available in the room. And also, looking like some sort of alien thing, this camera looks cool too!
Unfortunately, for the camera to operate, it has to be plugged into the USB port in your computer, so it's no good if your looking for a camera you can take around with you. However, there is a button on the top of the camera which you can use to take a snap shot of yourself, very useful to send to friends/relatives via e-mail.
The camera comes bundled with all the software you need as well as some cool games where you have to move around in front of the camera to do things (one being a game where you have to point your finger at bubbles floating down the screen to pop them). I was really surprised to recieve such a thing with a camera this cheap!!
This Philips camera is top quality stuff, if you don't mind having a camera that needs to be plugged into your computer all the time.
