Philips WAS 700

Advantages: Picture and sound Quality, Connectivity, Looks
Disadvantages: Weight, plastic stand , remote control

...Well after weeks of researching for a new tv, the worry of wether or not LCD or Plasma was a better choice. I decided to ask the advice of my friend whom is a tv engineer. he Told me to go for the plasma although there is nothing wrong with LCD he told me the bigger screens are better with Plasma. He told me for a good value for money TV which has lots of great features and superb picture and sound quality to go for this Phillips model. I cannot say much more that he was absolutely right it was a fantastic choice. The picture is breathtaking compared to my mums 42 phillips with ambilight and pixel plus2 technology. and unlike some plsma/lcd tv's the sound is great. most of these tv's have a very tinny sound. A very good buy for those on a budget. Tv man did say that for a superior tv Panasonic is the way to go. But hey with £700... Read review

Advantages: Wireless Streaming
Disadvantages: Small hard drive

...I've read about it and I'm still not so sure about the audio quality of this device, it looks like it will do the job for most people, but it does not seem to be made for audiophiles, now I'm looking at 2 other options, the musica (www.olive.us) and the sonos (www.sonos.com), just wondering if either of these would offer better sound quality. One of my concerns is due to the fact that the Philips WACS700, has built in speakers, which in one hand sounds very convenient, but in the other hand it does not let me take advantage of my high end speakers. Unless it has the option to allow use either the built in speakers or external speakers, but that I'm not sure either. Another concern I have is about the size of the hard disk, I don;t understand why the hard disk is limited to such a small size, 40 gb does not seem to catch up with any... Read review

Advantages: neat small and attractive... good sound, reasonable rich bass..
Disadvantages: not massively loud. limited sound adjustability.

...etc.. to (on the back of the HI-FI) 2 phono plugs so that's quite useful. 4.) the remote is very practical as with most philips items well thought out and laid out. you can play CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3 discs on the cd player which opens upwards (btw) so the hi-fi cannot be put under something. Audio output 2x25 watts Speaker type 2 way Radio Yes RDS No Radio type AM/FM/DAB 1 more point there doesn't seem to be an adjustable graphic equaliser setting so your stuck with the adequate classic, pop, rock, jazz etc.. settings also (dbb) which makes it richer sounding.
