I bought these speakers in Austria for 13 pounds for the pair, and have been very impressed with them. They aer relatively powerful whilst being relatively unobtrusive with a small footprint. An added bonus is the "T Connection" whereby you can plug them into your monitor power cable and thus you don't need to use another plug socket. The bass boost is responsive and makes a difference, and the sound quality is very acceptible. Whilst you can get some much better speakers, the major advantage of these beauties is the very cheap pricetag. Installation is child's play and there are a total of two connections to have to make.

...which are actually made by philips and use technology liscenced from philips (WooX). these 2 satelite speakers and sub are outstanding. i also own some cambridge soundworks speakers and sub and although they are alos excellent, the microsoft system beats them hands down. the quality of sound through the usb sound card is crystal clear and the sub kicks out a real boom. the quality of bass at high volume levels is also excellent with little or no ... No Fillip From Philips
Review of Philips PCRW 4816K by  RayMan_UK

Advantages: Ultra Fast Read, ReWrite, Write, Underrun Protection, Nero5.5, 2yr Warranty, Easy Install Wizard, Sound Quality.
Disadvantages: Worked Well For A Few Days, Wouldn't Write Data, Specification Discrepancies, Nero Bundled Version.

...§~§~§~§~§~§~§~§ This is an ultra fast CD-ReWriter, at a very reasonable price. I was running mine on a lower specification than it says on the box, ALTHOUGH the set up installation wizard, states my specification is acceptable. Hhhmm. That could be why it wasn't up to the tasks. By rights, it should have been! Another reason it COULD have not been the writer for me, is the bundled software. I say this after reading some reviews concerning CD-ReWriters with their software conflicts. Bundled software isn't the full product. Plus the software used by Philips slowed the write speed down to unacceptable levels. I was unhappy also, that the time it reported the CD-R as "failed write", was after the CD had already been ruined by written data that far into the disc. These things didn't happen immediately, at first things seemed good. Then I... Read review

Philips DVD Recordable - Right choice?
Review of Philips DVD Recordable DVDR890 by  Niburu

Advantages: Easy to manage, good quality recordings
Disadvantages: Format issues (see below)

...Without most of us really noticing a thing, the recordable DVD market has progressed in leaps and bounds. Could it be time to banish your video machine to the fiery depths of the electronic abyss? Read the review and then some important info on DVD Formats. Philips DVDR880/890 Both very similar machines, just varying slightly in price and features and like the new released models by Philips, they have been good sellers in a volatile and suspicious market. Features - Turn the first few pages of the manual and you would forgiven for believing you have purchased a stylish looking VCR. On closer inspection, the large gaping cassette hole has been replaced with a CD draw and all those analogue outputs with digital ones. Like modern VCR’s, the Philips range include the usual VideoPlus, PDC, timer recording, One Touch Recording... Read review

Philips DVDR-1000 DVD Recorder
Review of Philips DVDr 1000 by  whitedevil

Advantages: Record onto DVD, Picture Quality, Remote Control, Features
Disadvantages: Standard Box, Chunky, Size, Picture, Price,

...the '+' version. Confused? Not surprising so when I had the opportunity to play with the new Philips DVDR-1000 recordable, I was not expecting an easy time in front of the box. Surprisingly, this machine put all our fears to rest and more. The Philips DVDR-1000 is one of the first stand alone DVD players that can record content off TV, video or another DVD player in the DVD+RW format. The biggest advantage of this format is that it is the most backwards compatible with the existing DVD player market out there at the moment. In the time I had this unit, all recordings onto the DVD+RW disc would playback on all players ranging from the recent Sony DAV-S300 Dream System right down to the first generation Pioneer DV-505. The only player that had issues with this disc was the Playstation 2 console. There are so many features that this player... Read review
