Photo Restoration

I recently had a number of irreplaceable photos ruined when a pipe burst in my attic. I thought all was lost until a friend recommended I try a photo restorer, I didn't know there was such a thing! Checking the web I found that there was a plethora of companies out there offering this service, after contacting a number of them the one the result was very mixed, in fact I never received a reply from several of them. My Grandad died aged of 92. He was such a lovely man. I now only had my photo's. However, these were in poor condition. I had nothing to show my children of his life. I have been researching my family tree and sorting out a drawer full of old photographs. Many of them were badly damaged through mishandling and faded or stained, some were very old. I wanted the most important ones professionally copied and started to look for someone who could do a good job. That is when I fell foul of the cowboys. I had 500 old photographs which i wanted to Scan. I came across this site called www.allscans.co.uk, which was local to my city. I posted my photographs to the given address on Monday, and I received them back the following tuesday. All of the photos were returned and to my relief none were missing. All the photos were scanned onto a CD. They even sent me a confirmation mail on receiving the photos, which in my opinion gives a significant peace of mind.
