I would just like to offer my own thoughts and views (or mad comments) on this subject, which is of course the AssociatedBoardMusic Examinations. And as the name would suggest to us all, these are exams that are taken in music that are assessed by the AssociatedBoard (AB).
When you go in to any decent music shop that sells sheet music (that is, music that is written down on a piece of paper for an individual to follow) then you will no doubt see many items for this. The AB is usually a general term for those top musicschools etc that have all come together, in order to offer exams in pretty much any instrument that there is going these days (with the possible exception of the ukelele). These exams are called grades, which start at Grade 1 (being the lowest) up to Grade 8 (being the highest).

The associatedboard of music is the most popular examining board in the UK. It has and internationally renowned reputation, particularly in the Middle East and Asia, and has been operating for well over 100 years. It is a charitable organisation that was set up for the benefit of the 4 royalmusicschools in the UK and they offer a wide range of instrumental and theory exams and these are very thoroughly backed up with a whole range of good quality printed music. appreciate Budd's spectacularly subdued talent without ever listening to his music. There is something intangible in it and even when he reminds you of others, such as Philip Glass in the opening piece: Pulse Pause Repeat, it is always entirely Harold Budd. Perhaps pieces such as Pulse Pause Repeat were influenced by Glass' more simple piano works, and it would make sense as they have a lot in common, though Glass' work is certainly more rhythmical than Budd's. Nevertheless, they are artists engaged in almost life long aesthetics that in general leave you either hypnotised or bored. Equally, La Casa Bruja is reminiscent of Michael Nyman's soundtrack to The Piano, though more restrained but just as beautiful, if not more so for the restraint.
