An Excellent choice. The Yamaha Piano is the best
Advantages: A bright evenly toned piano for all abilities Disadvantages: Some of the older models do not have the soft close lid
The Yamaha U series of pianos are an excellent choice for the intermediate to advanced player. I am a piano teacher and have recently fallen in love with the Yamaha piano. I am in the process of changing my current piano which I always thought was a very good piano to the Yamaha U3. I have introduced to them through my former piano teacher as he has one himself. What can I say. The tone, the fabulous rich bass and the craftsmanship that comprises ... ...of piano that will last you a lifetime. it features a quiet pedal for practice and some models have a soft close lid (not that I believe that a piano lid should ever be closed). You cant really go wrong with the U3 or any of the Yamaha range. ...

Kawai rx-2
Advantages: Lovely dynamics Disadvantages: could be a bit more responsive
I played this piano for the first time today, it really makes a difference when you play a grand which has more length to it, the sound is louder and clearness of each note really stands out. I thoroughly enjoyed playing this piano and would recommend it to any one who is thinking about buying a new grand piano on a reasonable budget. I also liked the style and thought it looked particulary professional in ebony with a polyester finish. However when ... ...can tell the difference in quality, like going to buy a ford car and then trying a BMW. But I suppose that reflects in the prices. Anything smaller than this piano I've been told probably isn't worth it at a professional level. Baby grands only really serve the purpose of looking nice. ...

Yamaha P-70
Advantages: Great value, great sound, weighted keys, ease of transport. Disadvantages: None
I own a Yamaha P70. It is a full size electric piano. I bought the proper stand to go with it which is much more safe and secure than the cheaper alternatives. It has 2 Grand Piano, 2 Organs, Vibraphone, Strings and 2 Electric Piano sounds. As a portable musician I can easily take the stand off carry it around and do gigs. The piano itself is quite light. The feel of the keys is excellent, very well weighted and they can stand a right bashing. Much ...

Steinway K52 upright piano
Advantages: Quality of materials and construction. Tone quality. Disadvantages: Large size. Cost.
...the many piano manufacturers.
Steinway pianos are famous for their quality of tone, and this applies across the range to all of their grands and uprights. The greater the string length the better the sound - in theory, so the large K-52 should be a great sounding instrument. The tone depends on other factors such as the soundboard, the general resonance of the case, the condition of the strings and the correct settings of the action. The strings ... ...to put right.
The Steinway pianos have always been among the best that money can buy, and they have always been built to a standard and not to a price. My piano may look a little dated with the inlaid carved wood, and the carefully covered holes which originally held the candle-holders. A piano which has reached the grand age of 115 years will certainly have had work done on it, and the quality of the restoration work affects the way the instrument ...

A wonderful piano
Advantages: Lovely action, fantastic sound Disadvantages: Having to go to Swansea to get it!
...only current importer of the Bechstein Euterpe. We live in Hampshire so we set off for the long journey to Swansea. I am so glad we did. The attention and service we received was far in excess of any we received elsewhere. My three daughters and I were there for three hours. They staff were so patient with us. We all four chose different pianos to try and played them simultaneously. It was a dreadful cacophany!! In time we each played every piano, ... ...It was very strident. The Bechstein has a beautiful sound and a terrific action. It almost plays for you. It is also very even in sound and touch. My tuner was so thrilled he came to play it on his way to work very early one morning! We are all truly in love with this wonderful piano. It is in a similar price bracket to the Yamaha U1 so is not out of reach financially. Since purchasing my piano Bechstein have changed the name from Euterpe to Hoffman. ...
