Advantages Makes your life seem normal
Disadvantages Some very disturbed people
I was given a few copies of this magazine by a friend and including a New Year edition which I thought that it may be more cheerful than these usual types of magazines that maybe full of hope and new starts.
This magazine is usually 70p but the copy I have was available for the Christmas period so was £1.45 but boasted that it had 92 pages.
Once inside the stories are listed on contents page. This does include recipes, horoscopes, fashion and health. There are a vast number of competitions and puzzles along with real life stories.
One if the weirdest stories are of a woman who breast feeds her dog. This is not a misspelling. I find some of the stories in this magazine would be better to spend their time talking to a psychiatrist rather than selling their stories for a bit of cash. I have read reviews on Dooyoo on five reasons why I think I am strange after reading this magazine I cannot imagine any reader feeling weird unless they like one contributor has also named their child Ikea after the shopl.
Surprisingly yes. There are a few very emotional stories with a happy ending but also an article on reasons to be cheerful in 2010. After reading this article I feel bemused how these could make me walk with a lighter step but more wondering how drunk the writers were when deciding what was going to make readers happier in 2010. The most amusing was a new set of scales which not only keeps track of your body fat and weight but also tracks your menstrual cycle.
I am quite surprised at my experience of reading this magazine. I was expecting the sad stories but I was shocked at how disturbed and distorted the perceptions of the people in the true life stories are. I am left wondering how come the interviewer did not suggest that they need serious psychological help.
