Advantages: Simple easy to use software with some advanced features Disadvantages: Installation problems, bugs in software and need to upgrade
...Pinnacle9 is nigh on Dickensian, it left me thinking that ‘it was the best of software it was the worst of software’, how can one ‘umble product leave you ripping your hair out as well as oddly satisfied, in fact it practically left me asking for more. The software is actually very good; especially for the price in fact it makes the editing process remarkably simple, transitions, multi-level sound and image editors. But the package could drive anybody to the brink of insanity. The software is quite large and uses up a huge amount of a computers resources, so shutting everything down (as they themselves recommend) is a very good idea, however if like me you’ve got a computer approaching it’s fifth birthday and the grim reaper seems to hover over it ready to strike at any moment, Pinnacle9 spells trouble. First of all the initial...

Advantages: A professional package a home PC prices. Disadvantages: Could be bugged!!! Not used enough to be 100%
...Pinnacle has been producing one of the best video editing packages for a while now. Definately one of the best I've come across, and the latest Version9 is a good addition. Giving anyone the ability to edit their own movies and burn them to CD or DVD, or even put them back onto video tape, if you prefer that old fashioned approach.

If you are familiar with previous versions, or familiar with other editing packages, then this will be a breeze to you.
The software does what most editing packages do, and some! So you have the ability to capture video directly from an input source...

Advantages: cheap, fair quality images, easy to use Disadvantages: needs a good sound card, some capture problems
...The Pinnacle DC10+ is a good few years old now but I thought I'd review it in case anyone was still using analogue video equipment and was looking for something to help them edit their videos. Units regularly turn up on eBay so they should be fairly easy to find if you think it's the device for you. On with the review!
Whilst most people have moved over to digital video using either Digital8 or DV, some camcorder users are still more than happy with their Hi8, Video8 and even (shudder) VHS-C machines. The digital users have the luxury of Firewire and its ease of use when capturing and re-recording edited footage. However, the analogue users have to look to slightly more complex hardware to do the job.
The PinnacleStudio DC10+ consists of a PCI card and editing software. The card installs effortlessly as does the software. The card...
