...Having now owned this sat nav system since Feb 2005 i can say i have been very happy with it . The Avic 800 comes with a steering wheel remote and the CNDV-30 map disc which i upgraded to the CNDV-50 map disc as soon as possable because it was the most up to date maps.
My set up is the Avic 800 and a AVH-6500 screen which means i can use touch screen or voice to input addresses or postcodes for anywhere in the UK or Europe and it all comes on one DVD, but the latest map set is now on 2 discs which cover east and west europe. Having this set up ment i could get rid of the fidley remote for the steeringwheel which did not seem to work with my sat nav. Using the touch screen is easy just press the navi button on the AVH-6500 unit and up comes the Pioneer warning screen which tells you not to use this item while driving (i.e do not input...

Advantages: Good size screen Disadvantages: Noisey when operational

Find a suitable position for the GPS aerial I mounted it on my rear parcel shelf so it cna get a good view of the sky and pick up a good signal from sattelites.
With a removal faceplate for security but no plastic carry box to keep it in can mean it gets damged very easily.
CD Playback
The unit will play your normal bought from a shop CD or a CD-R with your music from your PC. It will play most formats e.g. MPS, WMA etc..
The unit supports CD text and will display this on the screen. To select a track all you need to do is press the name of the track on the screen and the track will begin to play. If you use a MP3 CD that you have created it will show folder names e.g. album names and track names.
DVD Playback
The unit will play all DVD's and has an impressive screen to display...
