Once it arrived though it far surpassed my original idea of what it would be. Firstly, it was a lot bigger than I remembered when I first saw one. However, don't let that put you off, size is good, it means they can fit more stuff on it!

This is the first such item I have got so forgive me if this isn't exhaustive, I will need to spen a few months using it but I thought I would let you know my first impressions. Hopefully it will help others decide to take the plunge.
Before we start I would like to let people know how hard these are to get hold of. If you are looking for something to use this weekend, look elsewhere. I ordered mine in October and I got it mid February. This is not a problem with the place I got it from, it is a case of Pioneer can't make them quick enough.

The features on this are amazing. The jog wheel which allows you to scratch and mix CD's like vinyl is amazing, very intuitive and instant control which is essential as I'm sure you appreciate. There are 2 controls listed touch/brake and release/start. These give the user the chance to control the way the jog wheel reacts to being used, it can slow down the 'catch-up' rate of the cd when it is released, giving the effect that the turntable is catching up on vinyl. The display shows several useful items, the obvious such as time display and a graph showing the prominent beats and a clever tempo meter which gives a BPM for the current track. By using the tempo fader you can change the BPM either during playback or at cue to beat match for your mixing.
The hot cue feature gives you three location you can save on your CD which will allow you to jump to sections. These can also be saved to the card slot allowing DJ's to save cue lists making instant recalls of essential positions very easy.
There is also an MP3 folder search section which I have yet to explore but according to the spec will allow you to locate MP3 track on your CD or card for playback very quickly.
These are the features I have tried so far and looking forward to exploring it further,
Advantages: Greater functionality and ease of use Disadvantages: Price
...even in the dark, and Pioneer have made more effort to better the information display - its brightness and clarity are a major improvement on the MK2.
Cons
All in all, there are no cons in my opinion - this piece of equipment is the very best any dj has at his fingertips. Being critical, I would say that its price (£700) is expensive to beginners and intermediate dj's on a budget, but if you have the money to burn, this is a piece that you MUST ... ...in all, I love this Pioneer CDJ-1000MK3. I am currently saving for one, and to anybody doing the same, I would like to stress that it will be the best purchase you ever make within the dj world. If you have not tried one yet, and think that the price is too steep for what it does, go to any decent dj equipment store and ask for a demo - you will love them! If it is still over your budget, definately look into the CMX-3000, also by Pioneer. ...

Advantages: Ease of use, combine new media and fx into your mixes. Disadvantages: maybe a bit pricey.
The pioneer CDJ-1000 is in a different league to any CD decks that have come before it. Vinyl Emulation is the key, for the first time you actually feel as though you are manually manipulating the CD. This gives you the opportunity, with a bit of practice of course to add a new dimension to your Mixes. Even scratching is possible with this beast.
Measuring 12.5 inches by 14.5 inches by 4.2 inches, the turntable is much larger than its famous predecessor, ... ...youve bought a proper, durable piece of kit. The first thing you notice, and the most important innovation on the CDJ-1000 is its large 206-mm platter. Made to look like a 45, complete with grooves, this touch-sensitive jog wheel allows the user to "handle" a CD. You can spin it back, find your cue point with high accuracy, and scratch without worrying about the needle jumping. Pressing the start/stop button will power up or down the CD as if it ...

Advantages: Very realistic vinyl emulation, wide pitch control range, loops, cues, SD card cue memory. Disadvantages: slightly plastic feel to platter
Pioneer have released the 3rd version of the internationally acclaimed CDJ1000 with tweaks and improvements at every turn.
The latest model includes MP3 playback in addition to the host of features available to the digital jockey.
Expect seamless looping, programmable cue points accessable from 3 illuminated pads and saveable to SD memory cards; wave viewer, +/- 100% pitch control and more.
The "master tempo" function allows tracks to be slowed ... ...is available to change the speed at which plackback starts or stops allowing the classic wind-down effect and a reverse switch gives instant control over direction of play.
The scratchability of the stationary platter gives a supremely realistic vinyl sound and the central LED display helps do away with those bits of tape and tipex stuck to yer vinyl.
The MK3 version sees the main LED display raised upwards for ease of viewing but apart from the ...

Advantages: quick change to cd to vinyl emulation its GREAT Disadvantages: only one the sd card slot is for only saving cue points and loops
These DJ decks are in my opinion the greastest the most robust DJ decks in the world. If you know how to DJ you can use these. They have so many features and buttons your mixes will never be off time, my experience with these decks are fanstastic. the best thing i like about these DJ decks are that you can either use them as CD decks so you use the wheel as a search wheel or you can press the vinyl button and then use them as vinyl and use the wheel ...

Advantages: I DONT THINK IT HAS ANY ADVATAGES Disadvantages: LOADS AND LOADS OF THERES A LIST AS LONG AS MY ARM
My experience using this DJ set up very annoying, when i first got these decks the man in the shop told me they have the same features as the pioneercdj1000 but without the price.... that was until i got them home i took them out the box plugged them in to my DJM800 Mixer and switched them on... GREAT! i said to myself this deck is exactly what he said put a cd in made some very strange load noise like the disk was getting jammed so i quickly turned them of and on again and done the same thing......so i phoned the shop up were i bought these from he said thats normal they used a cheap cd drive in them i thought...... You get what you pay for if its cheap its cheap........ any way after using them for 2 hours i thought this is nothing like a PIONEERCDJ1000 but it does have some really cool features like you can use the BOP button to ...
Advantages: Everything You Need Disadvantages: LCD Blurs
There can be no doubt when I say that Pioneer own the DJ CD deck market. Like the Technics, the mighty CDJ range has become the standard install for many clubs and an essential buy for many DJs wishing to make the jump from analog to digital. When Pioneer released the original CDJ-1000 and subsequent 800, they ruled the roost, led the pack plus many other euphemisms meaning they pwned the scene. But the competition soon caught up and even surpassed the functionality and feature set of the CDJs, leaving Pioneer in the enviable but slightly uncomfortable position of being the standard, but not necessarily the cutting edge anymore. If you're an existing Pioneer user, you'll be right at home, as the Pioneer layout rule book has been read and adhered to. Controls are where you'd expect them to be and the CDJ-400 also has an LCD screen that ...
Advantages: Excellent effects Disadvantages: No scratch facility
Having used as friends CDJ200 and enjoyed it very much, I purchased one of my own. The unit looks very good and feels solid in construction. The best features are the looping facility and the ability to cut loops, cutting loops on the CD deck is a feature that the CDJ1000 DOESNT HAVE. The Effects (Jet, Zip and Wah) are good and produce the same result as the Pioneer efx 500 and DJM effects modules.
The pitch adjustment is smooth and you can choose between +/-6,10,12% pitch, the pitch can be bent easily by the jog wheel, this takes a while to get used to as it is different to a standard turntable (1210) and not as dampered as the excellent jog wheel on a CDJ1000, this is acceptable as it is less than half the price.
The ability to play MP3 format cd's is great as you can fit about 150 accapellas on one cd, excellent for easy access ...
The Pioneer genes are clear in the CDJ-1000MK3. The deck offers the same robust build beloved by club owners and DJs, is finished in the familiar high-quality polished look and remains faithful to the clean, clear layout that has become the accepted forma
