I have had this for about 4 years now, and is frankly head and shoulders above most head units i have had before. You don't now need to spend £200 - £300 on a head unit, and thankfully prices have come down significantly in the last few years and an equivalent model should now set you back about £150.
My current set up comprises of ... ...a pair of pioneer 6.5" speakers on rear shelf, an audison amp 220w x 1 driving a 10" Pioneer sealed sub box in the boot and factory fit Ford speakers driven by internal amp (50 x 4) on head unit.
Needless to say it rocks with most types of music. Bass extension is deep but not harsh or overpowering. Separation is very good and stereo imaging excellent. High frequencies are good without being harsh from the factory fit tweeters, ... more

My current set up comprises of Pioneer DEH-P7500MP head unit, Kenwood amp 60 x 2 driving a pair of pioneer 6.5" speakers on rear shelf, an audison amp 220w x 1 driving a 10" Pioneer sealed sub box in the boot and factory fit Ford speakers driven by internal amp (50 x 4) on head unit.
Needless to say it rocks with most types of music. Bass extension is deep but not harsh or overpowering. Separation is very good and stereo imaging excellent. High frequencies are good without being harsh from the factory fit tweeters, and mid range also good from the Ford speakers.
Main features include 50w x 4 on head unit, MP3 and WMA playback from CD-R and -RW discs. CD text. 3 pre-outs inc a sub-out. 3 setting loudness control. IP bus control for external cd changer, tv tuner, DAB tuner. Sound focus EQ with independent bass / treble controls for front and rear channels. Organic EL Display with screensavers, background animations + Clock Display.
This review is based upon the Pioneer DEH-P7500MP which is a discontinued model now. An equivalent Pioneer model now would be the DEH-P5900MP with prices from £135. You can also take a look at the current Alpine range with many similar models around £140. Take a look at this website “http://digitalsounddirect.co.uk/shop/home.html” for an idea of all the current models. It's easy to navigate and you can compare different models in the price range you are interested in.
Before i finish just a few tips before you spend your hard earned money. Always try to listen to whatever you decide to buy, be it units, speakers or amps. Some of the larger dealers around should have a large range in their demo stands. If you are spending a large amount of money and you want the dealer to do the fitting, ask for a discount on the fitting charge. Finally if something goes wrong what is their returns policy. Will any repairs be carried out by them or will it have to be sent away, and how long will the repairs take.
Thank you for reading my review and good luck with your purchase or upgrade.
