This DVD player has a load of features and is easy to set up and get running. I actually never bought one, I won it in a contest on the web in January of 2000. It's durable and to date I have had no problems with it. I have played over 200 DVD movies on it and probably twice as many CD's and to my amazement it could read VCD,CDR, and CDRW.

Playing movies is a breeze with the large play, pause and search buttons. The advanced features however are only accessible through the remote control unit (one of the cons).

The OSD (on screen display) is easy to use and get familiar with. Within 15 minutes or so you can figure out most of the set up controls even without the manual. You can set it up for wide screen, letter box or full screen display. You can change the language for the OSD, audio, subtitle, and DVD. It has an auto-language feature which is turned on by default and uses English for everything.

It has S-video, and composite outputs for easy connection to your TV or VCR. It has left and right stereo outputs to your receiver/amplifier and it has digital output as well. In the set up menu you can choose either Dolby Digital or Dolby Digital PCM for the digital output. It also has DTS out and MPEG out as well as the other features.

Altogether it's a wonderful machine. From the price I have seen on Pricewatch.com it is also a good buy for the money. But whatever you do don't loose the remote control or all these wonderful features will be forever inaccessible to you (unless you get another one from Pioneer).
