Advantages: Excellent effects Disadvantages: No scratch facility
Having used as friends CDJ200 and enjoyed it very much, I purchased one of my own. The unit looks very good and feels solid in construction. The best features are the looping facility and the ability to cut loops, cutting loops on the CD deck is a feature that the CDJ1000 DOESNT HAVE. The Effects (Jet, Zip and Wah) are good and produce the same result as the Pioneerefx500 and DJM effects modules.
The pitch adjustment is smooth and you can choose between +/-6,10,12% pitch, the pitch can be bent easily by the jog wheel, this takes a while to get used to as it is different to a standardturntable (1210) and not as dampered as the excellent jog wheel on a CDJ1000, this is acceptable as it is less than half the price.
The ability to play MP3 format cd's is great as you can fit about 150 accapellas on one cd, excellent for easy access ...
Advantages: Just superb Disadvantages: way way too pricey for most of us
I like to play about on my PC and see what it can achieve with a little help from some good software and of course my innovative genius. One such way of doing this is by experimenting with video and editing. There are numerous programs on the market to enable even a novice to produce some excellent results, but if you are totally serious about doing this then there is no other package on the market that can produce the dramatic results achieved by using Adobe After Effects. The problem here of course is that the initial outlay is in the region of £1000 yep that's right about a grand to edit videos.
Not having a spare £1000 at hand I was fortunate enough to know someone who did have that kind of cash to splash out on a piece of software, and he was kind enough to let me try it out. After a fairly lengthy installation I was ...
Advantages: cheap and cheerfull, pioneer name Disadvantages: display is a bit dull
Ok so for people on a budget that cant spend in excess of £150+ this head unit may be for you. It may not look the most safisticated piece of kit but the sound quality is excellent, would you expect anything else from pioneer??
For the price it is fully loaded with features including BMX technology which pumps a little life into flat compressed files, EEQ equalizer and it plays cd-r, cd-rw and also mp3, wav and wma formats. It has one rca pre-out on the back for hooking up your amp and it has a input for a remote which you have to buy seperatly.
As far as styling goes you'll have illuminated red buttons, a pair of silver buttons for volume and seek. The front isn't a flip front which would have been nice but it is removable and it comes with a case for when you take it out the car.
The display which i find a bit dull and is ...

Manufacturer's product description
It's always difficult to explain in words just how good an effects unit can be. The 'DJ Effector' from Pioneer set's the standard which other manufacturers should follow. Cleverly, this unit is split into two halves:
The left hand side of the Effector includes the beat counter which can automatically calculate the BPM or can be manually overridden for more complicated beats. The five effects on this side of the unit work directly based on the BPM count and the 'depth' of the effect is controlled using the trackball. Unlike the Kaoss pad the unit naturally 'remembers' your settings when you take your finger away. The Effectors right hand side has five alternative effects what are designed to be manually controlled. The effects are manipulated by the large CD player style jog-wheel. You can use the the two sets of effects separately, or you can combine them both to produce some mind blowing results!
The isolator is a great tool allowing you to cut to just the bass, mid or treble - or indeed apply the effect to just one of these bands. This is great if you just want to apply a 'phase' to the high-hat's for example. There's a separate headphone output with a 'split-cue' type control. This will could be really handy if you were controlling the effects, while your buddy was controlling the mix. The DJ Effector is one of the most user friendly and powerful tools we've seen. The beat counter is accurate and we are really impressed that Pioneers have developed two different control systems dependant on the type of effect. The Effector looks good and boast Pioneer's better-than-the-rest build quality. Great value - Great fun!
