This is an amazing tool for creative djs with many built-in effects that are controlled via a large jog wheel. Everyone knows that it takes more than two decks and a mixer to get ahead in today's climate, now is the time to take the plunge into cdj technology and the efx500 won't break the bank.
Advantages: Build quality, built in effects, sound Disadvantages: Not enough decent effects, sound is not as good as other newer mixers
...I have owned my DJM-500 for over 4 years now, and it has lasted the test of time and the battering I have given it. Still perceived as the original ultimate professional dj/club mixer, it has remained as popular as ever. Its build quality is superb, but I believe its sound is not as good as other newer alternatives.
I am now looking to buy a new mixer - so will I buy another of these or a similar Pioneer product? I think not. I believe the advantages of the Allen & Heath Xone series outweigh Pioneer's mixers. Even so, I will still have a place in my heart for the DJM-500 as it was my very first mixer. I highly recommend this mixer to anybody who is starting out and want a mixer which is built like a brick and sounds good....

Advantages: Surplus input channel headroom Disadvantages: Lacks mic defeat switch
...After years of being a satisfied owner of a humble & by now rather long-in-the-tooth BVL MQ-3200 DJ mixer - one of whose faders has just "karked-it" (possibly as a delayed result of "sharing" an involuntary beer - spilt some years ago!!) I decided to move up in the world and join the apparently happy throng of Pioneer DJM-600 users with this second-hand but "mint" example. This I hasten to add was in no small part influenced by another DJ friend's satisfied experience & enthusiasm as a DJM-500 owner - although he had outlayed considerably more sheckles (approx double) than I for his purchase some years previously. Perhaps this may be an indication of its resale value.
On first inspection of the '600's controls I was somewhat taken aback at the comparatively light-weight action of all faders and if it wasn't for the fact that all...

Advantages: Greater functionality and ease of use Disadvantages: Price
...quality and build are second to none - they analyse the sound from a CD with super accuracy, punshyness and detail. Compared to the MK2, its functionality has definately got better with its track search speed being imporved significantly. Once again, the layout of the buttons are easy to use and see even in the dark, and Pioneer have made more effort to better the information display - its brightness and clarity are a major improvement on the MK2.
Cons
All in all, there are no cons in my opinion - this piece of equipment is the very best any dj has at his fingertips. Being critical, I would say that its price (£700) is expensive to beginners and intermediate dj's on a budget, but if you have the money to burn, this is a piece that you MUST have or that you are able to use in this ever changing music industry.
All in all, I love...

I had been without a DVD-RW drive for a few weeks since my last drive gave up. The first thing I noticed when looking for a new one was how cheap they are now. The last one I had I'd only paid £35 for thinking that was cheap, but now you can get them for more
