I must add that the system i am running means that i have not used the Pioneer's speakers as i am running a 5:1 surround system. I have left the sound quality as average on the specific criteria but please ignore this as i have no idea what the sound is like from the TV speakers.

The Very Best of the BEST!!
Advantages: Sublime Picture Quality, Split Screen Features and Multimedia Inputs Disadvantages: Expensive, hard to install.

Although the 6090 is an expensive option for television viewing, if you have the money and are in the market for a new television, this is where you need to be looking.
I have had the TV since January of this year (2009).
I have never before experienced blacks so deep, colours so rich and sharp or motion so clear as with this tv. Nominally with tv's as we all know the larger the screen size the poorer the picture quality, especially when viewing from strange angles or when sitting close or stading near the televison. However, with the pioneer even at low resoltion levels the tv performs extremely well. Then lets consider what you get if you run blu ray through one of the TV's 4 HDMI sockets. You really can start to feel like you are right there as it happens with life like picture quality. There really is nothing else that comes close. Picture quality when gaming on the TV is extreme, especially if through the latest generation of game consoles with HD.
I must add that the system i am running means that i have not used the Pioneer's speakers as i am running a 5:1 surround system. I have left the sound quality as average on the specific criteria but please ignore this as i have no idea what the sound is like from the TV speakers.
Obviously the TV is very large and also weighs alot. For this reason installation is difficult to say the least. I have the TV wall mounted but this is no easy task. If you plan to wall mount it you must consider the wall you plan to put it on, it needs to be a solid brick supporting wall, any dividing wall or such like just will not hold the weight of this monster tv. There is no current after market bracket i am aware of to hang it on so you must also purchase seperately the Pioneer bracket which comes in at a rather steep £250 (price when installed Jan 2009) and will take 2 reasonably strong men to put up onto the wall.
The TV does come with a table stand which is obviously an easier option but in my opinion it just does not have the same effect. As well as this you must consider that even using it on the stand you must have a strong enough platform for it and the TV needs to be secured to a wall with a metal wire (safety feature against the TV being tipped over)
The remote is easy to get along with It is long and thin but a bit chunky, but does feel very well built at the same time. You can teach the remote from other remotes and control other devices such as DVD players which is a helpful addition and saves losing those remotes down the side of the sofa. I have not had to change the batteries in the remote yet so can't tell you how good exactly there life is.
The split screen feature is very useful which means you can watch 2 programmes simultaneously, obviously with only sound on one half, but i dont mind sacraficing the sound on the football if it means i get to watch it. it is possible to split the screen 50:50 or move one of the screens to the bottom corner of the main screen.
You get 5 inputs on the television for DVD players, game consoles and the like which in my experience is more than enough. The TV has a VGN port and a PC input which means you can use the TV as a monitor for your computer/laptop. It has a USB port on the side of the TV which so far i have only used to show my family holiday snaps from my digital camera.
Overall the difficult installation and high price will be forgotton about the very first time you sit down and watch this superb TV in full 1080P and the only problems you will find with it is tearing yourself away to go to bed or even worse...work!
Advantages: Picture and build quality Disadvantages: Poor sound output from optical out
...have newly upgraded to the Pioneer PDP LX6090, having spent in the region of £15000 in the last six years, due to my satisfaction with the Pioneer products. My cinema system is fully connected with wireworld interconnects to maximise the capability of the Pioneer products. I did keep the Pioneer AX5Ai-S in the system, as although there are no HDMI connections, this AV receiver is more than capable for my needs. I did have to purchase a longer Wireworld ... ...40-50%. The sound from my Pioneer DVR LX70D, via the Wireworld Starlight coaxial cable, to the AV receiver is perfect, making it a mystery why Pioneer have suppressed the Plasma optical out. I telephoned Pioneer technical five times over the space of three weeks, three calls to the same agent, before he finally admitted this problem is inherent in the 9nth generation plasma. This is very disappointing for loyal Pioneer customers who are still using ...
